Le Makoto is a restaurant that offers variety. The menu has a little of everything, traditional Korean and Japanese favorites. The food is tasty and affordable!
Start with an original cocktail, they are really fun! You can then order the most delicious and comforting spicy pork soup and an amazing fish tempura. The Deung Gal bi is unforgettable, easily the most tender and juicy that you have ever tried. They use quality ingredients that are full of unique flavors. A very clean place with a good atmosphere and friendly service that is also very fast. Honestly one of the best Korean and Japanese restaurants in Montreal!
Makoto is described as a welcoming, affordable spot with generous portions and a fusion of Japanese and Korean flavors, where the food is consistently tasty, portions are satisfying, and service is friendly in a Japan inspired atmosphere; reviewers note good value and variety including bibimbap, tofu dishes and miso soup with meals, but some miss old menu items like okonomiyaki, sundubu jjigae, and udon, and a few note changes in presentation after reopening with hopes that favorites will return.
Un restaurant qui ne paye pas de mine quand on passe devant mais l'ambiance est charmante à l'intérieur. C'est également un de nos restaurants préfères lorsqu'il s'agit de se faire livrer chez soi :3
Truly such a treat to find Makoto! We went for dinner & it was absolutely delicious & very reasonably priced. I got the tofu teriyaki & it was scrumptious. Miso is served before each meal & it is the best miso I've had in the city! The atmosphere of the restaurant is so cozy & almost nostalgic. It reminded me of a scene from the Office or something. Will definitely be returning!

My friends & I recently visited Restaurant Makoto, & it exceeded our expectations in every way. The service was excellent, with friendly & attentive staff who made us feel right at home. The food was fantastic, offering a delightful range of Japanese & Korean fusion flavors, beautifully presented in each dish. The portions were generous, ensuring we left satisfied & content. The cozy ambiance added to the overall experience, making it a perfect spot for a memorable meal with friends. Highly recommended! Thank you to the team at Restaurant Makoto for a wonderful experience!
Excellente cuisine, typiquement coréen. Les plats sont savoureux. Le service était un peu long puisqu'il n'y avait qu'un seul serveur, mais ça n'a rien enlevé a l'expérience. Je recommande.

Seafood pancake was tasty & a generous portion but was mostly vegetables with not as much keeping it together. Takoyaki were nice & soft. Bibimpab was typical. My friend enjoyed her Katsu chicken.
Awesome food! The food was so fresh & tasted so good. I have eaten in lots of Korean & restaurants but this one beats them all. Also the cost is quite affordable.
Delicious food that proves there is love in cooking. Fresh chicken, shrimp, & beef. I loved the softness of the rice, & the crispy mess of each of the dishes. Definitely order katsu when you come here!

Good food, fantastic presentation (a lot of care was placed into the dish as it included soup, salad & ginger too) & service was excellent. I was getting take out & the host invited me to sit & brought me a cup of tea. It was a really thoughtful & kind gesture when I was having a rough day. I will definitely be back.
Nourriture excellente! Tout était très frais, goûteux & belle présentation. Service courtois & rapide. & prix très abordable! L'ambiance pourrait être un peu " oumphé". On a déjà hâte d'y retourner. 😉
From the moment we stepped into Restaurant Makoto, we were greeted by the warm ambiance that promised a memorable dining experience. The starters set the stage for the culinary delights that followed. The Pajeon was a crispy, savory pancake that was a perfect blend of flavors & textures, while the Takoyaki was a delightful treat, with its tender octopus filling encased in a light & fluffy batter. The main course was a generous display of the restaurant's commitment to both quality & quantity. The Chicken Katsu was a standout, with its perfectly crispy exterior & succulent interior, accompanied by a hearty portion of steamed rice, fresh vegetables, & two delectable gyozas. But the star of the evening was undoubtedly the Chicken Okonomiyaki. This Japanese savory pancake was not only huge in size but also in flavor. Each bite was a mix of tender chicken & a rich, complex array of seasonings that made it extremely flavorful. In conclusion, Restaurant Makoto in Montreal is a gem that offers an authentic taste of Japanese cuisine. The dishes we tried were not only delicious but also presented with care, making our dining experience truly exceptional. We left with our appetites fully satisfied & our taste buds tantalized, eagerly anticipating our next visit.
