This Mexican restaurant leans towards upscale settings with dimmer lighting. There was a group in the upstairs private room that the staff was a bit more focused on, but there were no shortcomings with their service. I ordered the Enchiladas Suiza & really enjoyed the quality of the dish. The sauce was very balanced. The space is nicely decorated, I like the artistic skulls.

This place has a gorgeous terrace & was able to seat us immediately for dinner on a Friday. I had the mango mezcal margarita which was absolutely delicious! The vegetarian al pastor was super flavorful, & I was so happy to see a vegetarian take on this dish with marinated mushrooms instead of pork. We also got the tres leches which was probably my least favorite. It was a bit dense, & not as sweet as I expected compared to other versions of this dessert. After the quick service we got for our drinks & tacos, I regretted ordering it since it took around 30 minutes to come out. Overall definitely recommend this place for authentic, flavorful mexican food or a delicious cocktail.

We are so happy (& lucky) to have La Gaviota right down the street from our house. Their delicious, authentic Mexican food is the best in Montreal, & their cocktails are great too! We have tried their beef tacos, enchiladas suiza, chicken quesadilla, & guacamole - all were excellent!

WOW! I had heard that Mexican (or Latin) cuisine could reach heights, but this was amazing. I normally find tacos boring, but this birria taco was the best I have ever had, the first I really liked, & when dipped into the sauce, was even better! Simple, but amazing! It really wowed me. I will not rest until I try everything on their menu!
