I haven't been back to Thailand in almost a year, & this bowl of noodles tasted so authentic & flavorful. Don't miss the mango sticky rice either-it was delicious! These dishes truly made me feel at home. Thank you for the wonderful food & such friendly service!
This place has authentic Thai food. One of the better Thai restos I've been to in Montreal. We ordered the Khao soi, Tom yum & the pad see ew. All dishes were flavourful & well balanced. The Khao soi was very good as it had a good curry flavour & the coconut was well balanced & not over powering compared to other places I've been to. Portions were all decent. Would definitely come back!
I had been eyeing Khao Soi for the longest time while taking my walks around Mont Royal & through mile end/Outremont . Every time I passed by, I would make a mental note to come back because i love Thai food… so when my foodie friend Farzy invited me to join her as a hand model & food taster, it was just meant to be.
It was one of those cool, rainy Montréal spring evenings where you're grateful to step inside somewhere warm & cozy. Instead of sitting on the cute terrace, we settled into a cozy table indoors while the sounds of the FIFA World Cup drifted through the restaurant from their TV screen.
One of the highlights of the evening was meeting the owner & her husband. They were so kind & welcoming, & took the time to recommend some of their favourite dishes for us to try.
My favourite bites of the night were the refreshing mango salad, the tom yum soup with shrimp, the spicy fried rice, & the beef pad thai. Everything paired perfectly with a creamy Thai iced tea that disappeared much faster than I expected.
By the time dessert arrived, I was already completely full… but there was no way I was skipping the mango sticky rice. Some decisions simply have to be made with your heart & not your stomach.
A cozy meal, lovely people, good conversation, & another Montréal restaurant crossed off a list that started during a spring walk months ago. Those are usually the visits I remember most.
I'm just a foodie & travel lover who enjoys trying new places & experiences & sharing them along the way. If you like scrapbook-style posts & discovering spots like this, come hang out with me on TikTok @foxy.appetite & IG @foxyappetite 🫶
The best Thai restaurant in Montreal, no doubt! The chef-owner used to run another restaurant that I absolutely loved. But recently it tasted different, I honestly thought I would never get to taste those amazing flavors again.
Then I discovered Khao Soi & was so excited to learn that she had opened a new restaurant. Their authentic Northern Thai cuisine brought back all the flavors I had been missing. I'm so happy to have them back in my life & can't wait to return to try more dishes! 💖💖💖💖
They also offer multiple gluten free options, you just need to ask chef to adjust for you. 👍👍
The service was fast, we decided to try takeout & were heading out with our order after 10-15 min. We ordered pad Thai with shrimp, pad see ew with beef, iced tea & of course the fried bananas for dessert!! The servings were generous with nice garnishes & ingredients. The noodle dishes were not overly sweet & had a comforting depth to their flavour. The beef was quite flavourful! The bananas were a lovely way to round out the meal.
Absolute gem & we will definitely be back.
-The prices are very good for the portions.
-The service is very friendly & helpful with the menu.
-The food is meticulously prepared & absolutely on point.
We tried the Khao Soi, Pad Thai & chicken curry puffs, & everyone else's dishes they chose at the table looked equally delicious.
We will be back soon!
Amazing & authentic Thai food-As a Thai person who missed her mom's cooking & the restaurants from back home, I'm always looking for Thai places that have noodle soup, & this will probably be one of my favourite Thai noodle soup spots.
The Isaan-style papaya salad was soooo delicious & flavourful but also extremely spicy. We asked for medium-level spice, but we can have a high-spice tolerance so it was still amazing. I also loved the chili oil that you can add to your dishes at the table, that & the chili vinegar definitely heightened the already great flavour of our soups.
No frills thai restaurant with good dishes at decent prices esp for the portions.
Khao Soi is a welcome addition to the neighbourhood - a casual restaurant designed for walk-ins or efficient take-out & most importantly, they offer delicious Thai food (& some non-Thai Asian dishes) at affordable prices (comparatively speaking as everything is more expensive now). They have the popular dishes like pad thai, but they also have a few lesser known dishes, like their specialty namesake Khao Soi, a curry noodle dish which I've never tried before & is now a new favourite. My family has tried several dishes now & everything has been very good or excellent. The portions are also decent, & the service has been consistently good. There are not enough casual dine-in places in the area, so Khao Soi is definitely appreciated. I hope they're here to stay for the long-term.
