Review Summary

Restaurant Jade is described as an all you can eat buffet where tax and tip are included, offering good value and a wide variety that appeals to families. Reviews note that the quality can be uneven, with some dishes greasy or underseasoned, while standouts like certain dumplings, won ton soup, and shrimp are praised. Several comments mention oiliness and heaviness, and some deep fried items are overcooked or chewy. Cleanliness and upkeep are recurring concerns, with references to less than ideal bathrooms and decor that feels dated. Several writers point out that the selection has shrunk since the pandemic and that rotating dishes would help keep the buffet more appealing. There is also a plant based lane noted by vegans, indicating some accommodation for different diets. Overall the place is viewed as a budget friendly option with mixed impressions on food quality, balancing price and variety against freshness and polish.

This place gets a lot of bad reviews, but I enjoy going there. $25 for an all you can eat buffet, which includes taxes & a tip, is an excellent value. There are a lot of dishes that I've never bothered to try (I'm a picky eater), but you can easily fill yourself up on just a few dishes that you really like. The won ton soup & egg rolls are very good. I was quite satisfied & quite full the last time I went, which was last week.

My friend rented the hall for her 50th birthday. It's spacious. Food is fair.

Delicious food. Woman at the counter is tough but super sweet & nice. But you will get delicious food.

Love this place but been going downhill for ages. Ceiling was falling in last time. I recommend Ethan's across. Just if they upgraded their food to less dsltt & fresher, improved the dining area. It would be A1 again

C'est tellement dommage. La qualité n'était pas au rendez-vous malgré un prix raisonnable & un service agréable.

At China town in Montreal. It was good, I just didn't like the washrooms.

Looooved the dumplings here. We had the pork dumplings as well as the shrimp ones & both were delicious.

Will return & recommend.

Not what it used to be

As of 2025, you pay $25 which is about 30-40% lower than comparable alternatives. It follows accordingly that the food quality is mediocre - the deep fried options are overcooked to death, some of the meat dishes are extremely tough & chewy, & there are very few cold/dessert options or drinks available. On the other hand, some of the steamed & stir-fried dishes were surprisingly good.

The main targets in the'buffet meta' are the deep-fried shrimp & the ribs, but the price is cheap enough that you can enjoy a decent variety of food without feeling the need to minmax.

Honestly so worth it! Really good Cantonese buffet. Not like Americanized Chinese, had some really authentic options. Still really cheap but such good options, like congee & wonton noodle soup made to order. Left supperrrr full. Had no problems, not a fine dining experience but definitely good value!

C'est bien pour les enfants parce que à volonté, libre-service & abordable. Mais ce n'est pas une expérience gastronomique.

Nourriture ordinaire, salle de bain insalubre, restaurant très vieillot, ce qui lui donne un air de malpropreté.
