Review Summary

Restaurant Jade offers an affordable, no-frills buffet experience in Montreal that appeals to diners seeking value rather than fine dining. While opinions on the food quality are polarized, many patrons appreciate the diverse variety of dishes, including popular staples like spring rolls, dumplings, and ribs, especially when dining during peak hours for maximum freshness. The atmosphere is generally described as quiet and casual, making it a convenient spot for a quick meal, though some visitors note that the facilities could benefit from updates and improved maintenance. While some reviewers find the offerings oily or inconsistent, others value the inclusive pricing and friendly service, often viewing the restaurant as a reliable, nostalgic choice for a budget-friendly, satisfying meal.

The worst Chinese food I've ever had, I expected better being in Chinatown, understand why they get you to pay when you walk in. Price was good for a buffet but poor for the quality. I will say the rice & ribs were decent. Our table of 5 had so much food left on our plates I felt bad for the waste but we just couldn't eat it. We went up a 2nd time to try to find something good & to eat something for our money.

Don't go there expecting top quality chinese food. You're going there for some average buffet-quality chinese food at an affordable price. If you go in there with that kind of mindset, this place will satisfy you.

It's also a great place to carb-load before a marathon!

Vibe is ok. Service is good & simple. Chineese food taste fine, not the best but for the price & all you can eat buffet, it's great.

Good variety & choice. Shrimps are good but salty.

Good food at affordable price (only 25.00 after tax). Not the best but for that price you will not regret. 10/10 would come again.

The dishes are rich, but the taste is hard to describe. It's better to buy bread at the door. The price is not expensive, but the experience is not very good.

I love the spring rolls & shrimp . No tip is required & the buffet is 21$ with tax taking it to 25$. The dishes are tasty & the variety is Ok for the price.

As of 2025, you pay $25 which is about 30-40% lower than comparable alternatives. It follows accordingly that the food quality is mediocre - the deep fried options are overcooked to death, some of the meat dishes are extremely tough & chewy, & there are very few cold/dessert options or drinks available. On the other hand, some of the steamed & stir-fried dishes were surprisingly good.

The main targets in the'buffet meta' are the deep-fried shrimp & the ribs, but the price is cheap enough that you can enjoy a decent variety of food without feeling the need to minmax.
