Reviews of Restaurant El Amigo describe a warm, cozy, family-style spot with generous portions and affordable prices, where hearty, comforting dishes and pupusas are central and the menu leans toward Salvadoran rather than Mexican fare. The food is often praised as tasty and made to order, though a few guests note that some items arrive reheated or not very hot in the center. Service is typically friendly and welcoming but can feel overwhelmed at times, especially with large groups, while the owner and front-of-house staff are remembered for their kindness. The atmosphere feels homely and rustic, described as like dining at a relative's house, with décor that some find quaint or dated, and the space sometimes not wheelchair accessible. A common thread includes reservations by phone and BYO wine or beer, along with good value that invites repeat visits for pupusas and other comforting dishes.
We had pupusas for lunch. The owner was watching some TV show. It would have been to have some salvadorian music as background music instead.
I don't know for the other plates, but pupusas were not good. They tasted like tortillas with almost no filling. The curtido felt like 2-3 days old & the salsa was way too liquid, like water was added in it.
Nous sommes venus en grand groupe & le service a été excellent (2 employés pour un groupe de 20 & très peu d'attente, bravo) ! Les portions sont très généreuses, je recommande la soupe de poisson !
The portions are really big. I think some of the food is frozen & then reheated since it wasn't hot in the center. Not the best service since they did not even provide tap water for our table.
Imagine going back to your hometown after a while & going to your grandparents. That is El Amigo in a nutshell
Reservation by phone. On location, not a cat. Only us & the only staff/front of house/cook/etc. Menu: extensive. Atmosphere: drama in Spanish on the TV. Decor: inside your parents house. Not wheelchair accessible. Bring your own wine/beer. Food made on order. Came pretty quick. Good portions. Tasty. Had the restaurant for ourselves until 20:00 came. Then 11 + 2 came at once. Staff overwhelmed but did his job.
Good prices.
TL;DR: come with good company, good wine or beer, & patience & enjoy the pupusas.

Great food great price, homey vibe. Staffed by one man who cooks & takes orders. Don't be mislead by the buisiness Information I came when google said it was busier than usual but I was the only one there.
Merveilleuse soirée en amoureux. Le chef est attentif & avenant. Repas traditionnel Salvadorien. Endroit simple. Un apportez votre vin. Bon rapport qualité/prix. Bref, un trésor caché en pleine ville!
You wouldn't expect it walking by but this place is a gem. I can't believe how long it took me to find it & I only went on a recommendation. It's usually empty, & the food is awesome!
