A true hidden gem! We ordered the butter chicken, naan, daal makhani, & a mango lassi. Every dish was excellent. The flavours were well balanced.
The butter chicken had just the right amount of sweetness & a beautiful, vibrant colour.
The daal makhani had a nice hint of heat. The naan was fresh, & the mango lassi tasted like it was made with plenty of real mango.
Everything was exactly what I was hoping for, & even better. I'll definitely be back for more ! (i would really like to have their chicken biryani next time👀)
We had a fantastic time at Didar. We stopped in for dinner on a hot Friday night. I have been eating Indian food since I was a child, & I can safely say this is some of the best Indian cuisine I've ever had. The naan was ridiculously good, very fluffy & fresh. Although we asked for mild spiciness, the food was still quite spicy, so I highly recommend getting a mango lassi to cool your palate between bites. The service was excellent & one of the workers went above & beyond to make us feel welcome. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Super good food, service is quick, the team is great & they know their menu! Great experience!
Hadn't been here basically since COVID caused life changes & Mtl traffic became (even more) insane, was a regular before & delighted to have an even better experience than I'd had previously. The food was great, spice level requested was respected, for which I give thanks because that almost never happens in desi places & I am a missing the mirch gene.
Service was attentive & kind. We chatted in peace, no one hinted at us to get a move on. The now-white paint scheme more homey somehow than before, brightens up the place. Everything was clean, barring one glass which had evidently gone through the dishwasher in a corner or something, & it was quickly replaced.
The only unappetizing part of the experience was a customer making LOUD use of the facilities without closing the door, so we all got to hear how much he could have used a Kleenex. Hey, you grow up with desis, you hear this on the regular, but it's not exactly resto music. No fault of the restaurant, though.
All in all, worth the drive on a weekend & next time, I'll also bring some take-out to repeat the yummy at home.
