As a Malaysian myself, I was so happy to be able to have a taste of home. As a person who live abroad a while, this'Nasi lemak' is better than any other rice, highly recommend for someone new to Malaysian cuisine. Great food, nice people, & awesome drink(masala tea).
Cravings satisfied!
Tried their Nasi Lemak & Rendang for take out last February & back for Nasi goreng today & it hits the spot.
The Nasi lemakis as what you expect from a Malasian cook, rice fluppy & the the sambal is just at the right spicinness - being heat tolerance has reduced over the years.
The Rendang rempah is more on the mamak version, less sweet & more savory but you can taste the kunyit leaves which was missing on other restaurant that serves rendang.
The nasi goreng was wow all the anchovies really makes it kampung style just missing the chopped chili padi but the sambal on the side complemented it.
The ambiance was 4 star just because parking in the area is a bit crowded.
Authentic nasi lemak. The rice was so flavourful & you could taste the aroma of the coconut. Everything blended well together. Lassi drink was great too. Owners were friendly & welcoming.
Unassuming, hole in the wall restaurant. Nasi lemak didn't disappoint. Sambal legit. Two good size chicken (2 drum 1 thigh), generous ikan billis, 1 egg, peanuts, cucumber & the coconut rice. So big plate even my teenage son couldn't finish. Totally worth the $19.95cad. In the states, it would be US$20 with half an egg, only 1 piece of meat & maybe 2-3 slices of cucumber, & half the ikan billis & nuts.
For nut allergy, they can put the nuts on the side.
Next time, we'll order 1 nasi lemak plus extra meat that would be enough for two persons.
Actually next time, we'll try the rendang.
Was lucky to grab a parking spot. Not the place to impress your date but otherwise the food is so good.
I had Bilis Nasi Goreng (fried rice with dried anchovies) with a fried egg on top & I must say the flavors of the dish lives up to expectations. I also had Mango Lassi & its a good pairing drink with my nasi goreng. Check out their other dishes on the menu too. If you enjoy south east asian flavors, this is a nice restaurant to visit in Montreal.
Came back for the nasi lemak, stayed for the nasi goreng! The sambal, coconut rice, & crispy anchovies hit every note. Everything was packed with flavor - my go-to place for Malaysian comfort food.
We stumbled upon this incredible Malaysian-Sri Lankan restaurant purely by accident & what a delicious accident it turned out to be. It all started when we were looking for rice to go with some Indian food we had picked up earlier (which surprisingly didn't come with any). That's when we found this little spot. The owner, incredibly kind & welcoming, didn't hesitate to sell us some rice even though we weren't planning to dine in. But then we saw their Saturday specials & something told us we had to try it.
One bite, & we were completely hooked. The flavors were bold, rich, & absolutely unforgettable. We ended up putting aside our original takeout & fully committing to this new discovery. It was that good.
Sadly, we had to leave town early the next morning, so we didn't get a chance to come back before heading home. But that one meal lingered in our minds. My husband & I kept talking about it how flavorful everything was, how warm & genuine the couple was, & how we had to come back. We made a promise to ourselves that we'd return the following year.
& we did.
& just like that first time, they did not disappoint. The craving that built up for an entire year was completely satisfied. Their Saturday specials, the nasi lemak, & the noodles they made for my husband every dish was packed with flavor & soul. You can tell they cook with love. Everything tastes homemade in the best way possible comforting, authentic, & deeply satisfying.
What made the experience even more special is the couple who runs it. The husband & wife are some of the kindest people we've met humble, friendly, & so welcoming. On our return visit, his wife offered me a cup of chai tea, which was the perfect touch for the cold day. It was warm, fragrant, & felt like a hug in a cup.
We genuinely can't get enough of their food. I could eat it every day & never grow tired of it. This place is more than a restaurant it's a reminder of how food, made with heart & care, can create lasting memories. To the amazing husband & wife behind these dishes: thank you. We'll be back again & again.
Oh.... & did I mention? We came all the way from Boston. We drove almost six hours just to eat here again… & it was worth every mile.
