Founded in 1945, the restaurant Au Petit Poucet will introduce you to Quebec flavors through a typically Quebec menu.
A rustic and comforting decor, where you will feel like you are at the chalet. The huge central fireplace will ensure a warm atmosphere throughout your meal. Everything is there to give you a unique culinary experience!
We are located in Val-David, a charming village in the heart of the magnificent Laurentides region. You will also find a wide range of recreational and cultural activities nearby, which will certainly make you appreciate the region.
Au Petit Poucet is described as a warm rustic Quebec breakfast and lunch spot in the Laurentians, with a cozy chalet vibe, a large open fireplace, and a roomy waiting area where complimentary coffee and hot chocolate are offered to help pass the time. The menu features generous portions of traditional Quebec staples such as ham with maple syrup, baked beans, tourtiere, cretons, and house made breads and jams, with a noted emphasis on pork dishes and sugar shack style specialties in season. The overall experience is praised for friendly and attentive service, good value, and a family friendly atmosphere, making it a go to for brunch or apres ski moments, though waits can be long on weekends and reservations are rare or limited to large groups. The place is considered an institution in the region, delivering comforting homemade flavors and a memorable ambiance that is often worth the wait.
Amazing ambiance for sure. Gorgeous cabin, surely a regional icon for decades. Great service - cheerful québécoise hustling to get your food & coffee. I was very disappointed in the quality of the meat.

Beyond a breakfeast at le Poucet, for more thsn 20 years, I buy, each year when i do my Mapke Shack style diner at home. The Ham, the Tourtiere also called Meat Pie, Beans, & add the famous Option Sucree Maple syrop... always the diner receives four stars... the best from Le Petit Poucet
Wow!
First, the food & atmosphere here are fantastic. It's super cute & cozy. My biggest issue was when we arrived, as a group of 8, we were told the wait time was about an hour & we agreed to stay & wait. The place was very busy so we stayed on the property but waited outside & I was I would get a text when our table was ready. After waiting an hour & 15min, we spoke again to the host & they said our table was almost ready & we were the top of the list. About 5min after that, another large group was brought back. We went back to the host & they told us the big table (which they only had one of) is given 1hr 45min for their meal time & they were almost done. After waiting for 2hrs, we were finally seated. If a large group is given 1hr 45min, why are guests being told an hour wait? That group would have clearly had just sat down when we arrived which would make the wait at least 1hr 45min - not an hour.
I would suggest letting large groups make reservations or offering large groups the option to split into smaller groups for seating if you only have one large table.
