About

Ramen Isshin specializes in traditional Japanese noodle craft by centering its menu on complex, multi-layered broth preparations. Signature bowls feature tonkotsu bases simmered for extended periods to achieve a creamy consistency, paired with custom-made wheat noodles that maintain an ideal texture. The kitchen prioritizes authentic umami profiles by incorporating elements like miso, soy sauce, and sea salt, complemented by perfectly marinated soft-boiled eggs and tender slices of slow-cooked pork belly. Diners encounter a focused menu design that emphasizes technical precision in every bowl, ranging from spicy red miso varieties to delicate shio options. The atmosphere reflects the standard aesthetic of modern noodle houses, utilizing wooden accents and open kitchen views to prioritize efficiency and culinary transparency. This establishment maintains a rigid commitment to the foundational techniques of authentic regional Japanese ramen preparations.

Review Summary

Ramen Isshin is widely appreciated for its rich, flavorful broths and high-quality ingredients, making it a popular destination for those seeking a hearty bowl of ramen. Many guests find the staff friendly and helpful, frequently noting their willingness to explain the menu and provide welcoming service. While the dining environment is often described as convenient and clean, some patrons point out that the self-service model and limited seating can feel casual or rushed compared to a traditional sit-down experience. Opinions on pricing are mixed, with some diners feeling the cost is high relative to portion sizes or the amount of meat provided. Additionally, while many love the taste, others have occasionally found the broth to be overly salty, but overall, the restaurant is considered a welcome and solid addition to the local culinary scene.

Ramen Isshin Anjou is a solid spot to satisfy a ramen craving, especially if you're already in the area & looking for something warm & filling. Located inside a mall, it's very convenient to access, & one of the biggest advantages is the abundance of parking. You don't have to worry about finding a spot, which is a big plus compared to many other places in Montréal.

The highlight of the visit was definitely the ramen itself. The portions are generous, with big bowls that feel hearty & satisfying. The broth was rich & comforting, & the noodles had a good texture that held up well. It's the kind of meal that feels substantial, especially if you're coming in hungry. The overall quality makes it a reliable choice for ramen lovers.

In addition to ramen, I tried the seafood crepe & octopus. Both added some variety to the meal & made the experience a bit more interesting. The seafood crepe had a nice balance of flavors, while the octopus was a good savory option to complement the main dish. It's great that the menu offers more than just ramen, giving you the chance to mix & match different items.

That said, one downside is the seating situation. Because it's located in a mall, there aren't many dedicated seating spots, & it can feel a bit limited during busier times. You may have to wait or look around for a place to sit, which can take away slightly from the overall dining experience, especially if you're hoping for a more relaxed meal.

The atmosphere is more casual & functional rather than cozy, but that's expected given the location. It works well for a quick lunch or dinner while shopping, though it may not be the best choice if you're planning a long sit-down meal.

Overall, Ramen Isshin Anjou delivers on taste & portion size, with the added convenience of easy parking. While the limited seating is a drawback, the quality of the food & the variety on the menu make it worth a visit.

Tried the vegetarian spicy miso & shoyu ramen here. Great food, service & atmosphere. Nice to see a vegetarian ramen in the east of Montreal.
