About

Ramen Isshin delivers a comprehensive experience defined by authentic Japanese noodle craft and deep, complex broths. The menu highlights signature offerings like the red miso ramen and the rich tonkotsu, which rely on traditional preparation techniques to achieve depth of flavor. Diners encounter a selection of handmade noodles tailored to specific soup bases, ensuring the perfect texture for every bowl served. Small plates such as crispy gyoza and savory karaage accompany the noodle dishes to round out the meal. The interior design reflects an utilitarian aesthetic common in traditional Japanese noodle shops, prioritizing efficient service and focus on the bowl. This establishment provides a precise focus on bowl assembly, balancing salty, umami, and aromatic elements consistently across every portion prepared for patrons seeking a genuine taste of Japan.

Review Summary

Ramen Isshin is widely recognized for its high-quality, flavorful broths and consistently excellent service provided by a friendly and attentive staff. While the ramen varieties and textures, particularly the thick and chewy noodles, receive high praise, experiences with portion sizes and specific appetizers like takoyaki remain mixed. The atmosphere is generally described as cozy and pleasant, making it a popular destination for students and those seeking a reliable Japanese dining experience, though some diners suggest that overall consistency and value could be improved given the competitive nature of the surrounding area.

I went to try their new dessert, the Kakigori (shaved ice). It was amazing, sweet but refreshing. Definitely a must after a hot & rich ramen. 💯💯

Go there for the Tsukemen

A big highlight in MTL where I struggled to find a ramen I like
It just hit all the spot - this broth is far from bland, it's very concentrated salty but just a perfect deep for the noodle
The noodles are chewy & wavy

Just perfect when you have a craving

I had the chicken ramen-noodles were on point: smooth, silky, super satisfying. Loved that part. But the broth & chicken? Kinda fell flat. Could barely taste anything besides a hint of black pepper. Also, no chili oil or hot sauce on the table, which was a bummer. A little heat could've really brought it all together.
