Review Summary

R.E.A.L. Bagel Decarie attracts strong praise for fresh, flavorful bagels that many consider among the best in Montreal, with a larger, fluffier texture and a wide variety including all dressed and onion garlic options, plus other baked goods and sandwiches that add to the appeal. The staff are described as friendly and helpful, contributing to a welcoming community vibe and turning it into a go to spot for regulars. A few reviews mention higher prices and occasional issues such as a sour cream cheese incident that was not apologized for, along with minor comments on bagel shape or presentation. Overall the place reads as a Montreal staple with consistent quality and flavor, though a minority note room for improvement in value and service.

I just go for the bagels. People will say that only St-Viateur or Fairmount know how to make Montreal bagels but don't listen to them; these are a bit different (bigger & fluffier) but they're the real deal nonetheless.

This isn't bad done in joint & you are going for the bagels primarily although the Soleys food is pretty good in the refrigerator area. I come in a few times a year from New York to stock up in bagels which frankly I like more than ST. Viateur, Fairmont, Montreal West & others. No they aren't tiny & burnt if that's what you mean. Still small by New York standards but a little fluffy, lots of seeds & delicious. I offer the US customs officials every time I go over the border, but they decline. Their loss! Prices have gone up, they charged me a dollar a bag on my last order of $150 so that was a bit of a gauge. Cocktail sandwiches, flat ended egg rolls are yummy as are the lakes... So go, stock up & try the rugalach too.
