Food is good.
Owner has different personalities. But it depends on who he's talking to. You see customers wearing suits looking rich, he talks with finesse & very accommodating. You see casual looking clients, he's rude.
Atmosphere is depressing, it's hard to eat food when you see the staff being shouted at all the time.
I saw a person walk in who apparently ordered for pick up,
when the person came he said,'Hi!, I'm picking up an order for ****'.
The owner shouted,'what do you mean ****? I don't know any order for ****'
The person gave the name again.
The owner checked his computer & there it is. The order was real. So the owner shouted at his cook to make the order fast. Take note, not just shouting, shouting with offensive curses.
Then the owner came outside to serve us. He was very nice to us with all his flowery words. I was wearing a suit. So.
I pity the cook. She looks tired & hurt. Can't hurt to have a little kindess to everybody.
really great place- burgers are outstanding. i got the lefty (impeccable) & my wife got the steak frites with the foie gras add on- it was amazing. Highly recommend. Also, the local IPA was very tasty
Super moment passé , chaleureux , convivial & souriant.
Encore merci pour l'accueil & le petit selfie 🫶🏻
If you're reading the mixed reviews & hesitating - let me settle it for you.
People complain about the price. $28 for a burger, fries, & a drink. Here's what they're missing: Peter is using USDA Prime & Canadian AAA beef, dry-aged richness, jumbo Cajun shrimp on the Surf & Turf, real Wagyu on the Wagyu burger, foie gras, black truffle, lobster - these are steakhouse-grade ingredients on a brioche bun. Go price out a steak dinner with these same ingredients anywhere in Old Montreal & come back to me about value. The Rico Opera alone eats like a fine dining experience compressed into a burger.
The fries are not an afterthought - they're some of the best in the city, served with a house garlic aioli you'll want to take home in a jar. The short rib poutine is decadent in the way poutine is supposed to be but almost never is. The French Dip might be the sleeper hit of the menu.
& then there's Peter. Some reviews call him intense. He is. He's a chef who cares deeply about how his food is meant to be eaten & isn't going to pretend otherwise to get a tip. If you walk in expecting a fast-food transaction, you'll be confused. If you walk in curious, ask him what to order, trust the recommendation, & pay attention to the plate in front of you - you'll get one of the best meals in Montreal & a real conversation with the guy who made it. That's not a flaw. That's the entire point.
This place was born out of Queue de Cheval, an institution of Montreal. The DNA is still there. You're not paying burger prices because it isn't a burger joint - it's a steakhouse that happens to put it between two buns.
Stop reading reviews. Just Go.

Happened upon while walking in old port. Excellent food & atmosphere
Probably the best burger & fries I ever had! Tony was awesome as well! Great experience!
We're visiting Montreal from New York. So glad we found this place. Hands down the best burger I can remember having. My kids had amazing Mac & Cheese & my wife who is vegetarian had an incredible veggie burger. Everything is made with a lot of thought & attention. Couldn't give this place a more enthusiastic thumbs up
Not great, I won't go back. Food was extraordinarily greasy. In terms of service, they refused to serve tap water, which I really don't like. It took us a very long time to get our bill....& we didn't even get a bill, they just handed us the interac machine with an amount on it.
*Reply to owner/management commentary* - This is such an odd response from an owner. How on earth would you remember me if, as you said in your reply, I did not complain, just sat & ate my food (like any other customer, I presume)? How do you distinguish me from anyone else? Now you're just lying, which is a strange response from management. I absolutely did not get a bill. Why not just accept that perhaps one of your employees made a mistake, & use the feedback as a learning opportunity? The only thing you've demonstrated from your reply is that you're dishonest.
We loved the place, loved the food & loved Demetria. Best stop after point a calliere museum
Excellent burgers, great service. Chef, very friendly & helpful. More than happy to discuss veggie burger ideas with my daughter.
Definitely going back.
Great menu & wonderful food. The server we had, though, was a thin-skinned fusspot who made it abundantly clear he was the most important person in the establishment & mattered far more than customers.'The music is a bit loud, could you maybe turn it down a bit?' (in an otherwise empty restaurant).'No' (with a smug smile). We found a corner that was outside the trajectory of the pulsating speakers & yelped our order at him over the din.'Could the aioli be in a side dish instead of dollopped on top of the fries?' (After considerable thought)'Yes, I will allow that!'. Welcome to kindergarten! Watching him flutter around was an amusing floorshow, & when the food arrived, we had good reason to ignore him. Delicious, in a great location. To bad the experience wasn't as elevated as the food.
Sit at the counter, watch the action & most importantly, talk to Pete.
Super unique offerings on the menu. The most delicious burger (Rico Opera) she's ever had, says my wife. Restaurant warrants multiple visits to try a few different burgers.
Fun banter with our server. Warm conversation & resto recommendations with Pete, the owner.
Best burger in Mtl, food, service & place are just perfect! Thanks again!
Very rude hostess & overpriced, would definitely recommend going somewhere else.
This cozy little place has the absolute BEST veggie burger I've ever had! Made with fresh veggies grilled up to deliciousness with garlic aoli. My husband agreed his was the BEST tuna burger EVER! The host was so fun & accommodating! I highly recommend!
The best burger you can find in Montreal is here! Everything is perfect & absolutely delicious. The ambience is very clean & welcoming. The owner, Peter, who is from Greece, is very friendly & checked on us three times to make sure everything was good. He is truly hospitable. Wishing the best for this restaurant ✌?
It literally says it closes at 7 PM. I was here 6:25 PM. It was closed.
Since I cant reply to your reply I will edit this comment. But your crew closed at 6:25pm. Not 6:45pm. But thanks for the reply.
