Aliments frais & de qualité. Vaut assurément le détour. Seul bémol, le stationnement n'est pas facile.Voir plus

For over 30 year, the Mohan family has been proudly running this vegetarian restaurant / diner style watering hole to perfection. When I was introduced to this restaurant some years back I recall my reaction as "ugh, vegetarian" but I will try anything once. Well, almost two decades later I am still a loyal patron of this fantastic & authentic Indian vegetarian restaurant, where people from all walks of life come to sit & enjoy affordable & delicious food from India. The sole issue with this local has nothing to do with the restaurant, it is with the area it is located in. At one time one could find parking if you drove around long enough, since the redevelopment in the area, both government & developers recreated the streets & such so that there is almost no parking in front nor close by - free or paid. But let me tell you this, it is worth the time & energy to find parking & walk to eat at this restaurant as you will be delighted beyond expectation. Food: fresh, great quality ingredients, beautifully plated in authentic Selection: A wide array of dishes that are sure to please your taste buds including fantastic samosas & onion baji starters as well as Raita & Bathra a fried puffed white pita/bread to die for. Atmosphere: Think of it as an Indian Diner, not a fancy restaurant & the atmosphere is just fine & cozy - not first date cozy (for some), but second date & so forth. The place is kept clean & the washroom as well. Service: As mentioned, this is a family restaurant & their pricing is value based - short for not ripping people off - so, during rush hours such as lunch time, they do get busy & may not have enough people at front of house to satisfy your urgent needs - but be patient, these are beautiful people & they are doing their best to serve their customers as if you were in their own home. So please, if you are in an urgent rush advise the server or front counter in advance & state how much time you have so they can evaluate if they can meet your time line so you enjoy your experience. Pricing: As mentioned, this place is all about providing real value. Their competitive advantage & why people are loyal boils down to great quality, fantastic taste, good portions, & excellent pricing. You are paying for the food not the fancy location, decor, etc. Meal suggestions: Typically most people like to order the meal of the day as it is not only affordable, but it takes the decision making off the list of things to do & lets the chef serve you what is fresh & awesome. It typically comes with a full plate of food including the bread etc. Also indulge in the Dal soup, it is chick pea based & kind of the Indian version of a French Pea soup - without the chunks of smoked ham (lol). If you are a fan of butter chicken, try the SHAHI PANEER. I have also visited the west Island location which is also delicious & does have parking - but it is far to travel & by the time you get there you would have found parking locally... unless you were heading to the west island or in that area. Their local is 4777 Des Sources in Pierrefonds & they have their own website as well.Voir plus
Bought 25 samosas, but was only giving one bucket of Tambren sauce. Normally every 12 you get one was a little pissed off at that but I guess it was a mistake also bought 36 samosas.Voir plus
Great Indian restaurant. Authentic & NO FRILLS. Menu is filled with options for vegetarians & meat eaters alike. Chana masala, red bean curry, potato curry were all delicious. The samosa was delicious as well. They served us bottled water as waters. CASH ONLY ESTABLISHMENT. they are accommodating to tourists & accepted USD & gave me change in CAD. The service is as good as authentic places can get. No parking lot. Has to park at nearby street. Don't expect 5 star service, but expect 5 star food with great cheap prices.Voir plus
If you love simple & delicious pure vegetarian food. This is the place to go. I don't even know how many time I've been to this restaurant in the last 5 years. We drive from Ottawa to Montreal sometimes just to have a simple meal at this restaurant. They have a very simple menu which is great. The food is really good. As simple as it can get in a restaurant. It's always fresh. Very simple & with right amount of spices. Their samosas are good too but I really love their thali options. Some people may not find the ambiance that great but I wouldn't complain about it. Finding a parking is a pain in that area though.Voir plus

I visited this place & had lunch last Saturday. Had ordered samosa, Chana masala, chapatis, Veg pulav, regular lassi & raj-mah, alu sabji as parcel for dinner. First of all I really didn't understand if this place charges taxes coz they only accept cash so I assumed there won't be any taxes however that was not the case. They asked me to pay CA$ 31.90 against the bill of 29.25 CA$ (assuming 1.00 CA$ for water bottle) else as per their menu I had ordered foods worth 28.25 CA$. Now, let's move to my reviews as below 1. Samosas (CA$ 2.00) - biggest disappointment, you can't sell anything by just calling it samosa, it was full of oil & there was no filling like samosa in it so a big no no for me. 2. Chana Masala - very simple test & medium quantity however worth the price of CA$ 4.00 3. Chapatis - CA$ 1.00 so worth it. 4. Veg. Pulav - we can't call it pulav, it was just ordinary rice with some peas & tomatoes & masala in very small quantities however you can't expect anything more at a price of CA$ 4.00 5. Alu Sabji - again very simple boiled alu Sabji in medium quantity so justifies its cost of CA$ 4.75 6. Raj-mah - Couldn't taste it coz I had taken it as a parcel & wanted to have it in my dinner but it got stale so I had to threw it. 7. Regular lassi (Sweet)- looking at the quantity, I feel its worth CA$ 3.00 So overall, Ok Ok kind of experience but I kept feeling heaviness in stomach till late night after having the lunch so not sure Abt the quality of ingredients they use to prepare the food however looking at the crowd I assume all good. Conclusion: As per Indian standards you can call it a "Vojnalaya" where we get a reasonable food at very reasonable price coz you won't get the feelings of a restaurant food here. Special thanks to guys(Waiters) here for their polite behavior & fast service. PS: The guy with beards at the billing counter tries to pretend like a Britisher with fake accents & behavior makes you feel uncomfortable instead of adding any value to this place.Voir plus
Great food at some of the best prices I've seen for an Indian restaurant. Value was excellent & I couldn't even finish my $12 meal. Service was very fast & friendly, the owner himself served us & chatted with us. There's also a great selection of Indian desserts. Very eager to visit again. Just be aware that they only take cash.Voir plus
Always a pleasure to see the owner. He & the staff are always nice & helpful. Love the food there even if the menu is vegetarian, the flavor is amazing.Voir plus
