My friend, Kate, & I spent over a week in Montréal & stumbled upon this spot on our first day. We ended up coming back again & again. The food & drinks were excellent, & the staff couldn't have been kinder to us (shoutout to Kayla!). We're already planning our return to Montréal, & the chicken pot pie & drinks alone are more than enough reason to come back. We're wondering how many visits it'll take before we earn scarf hanging privileges? Our team/place of work would look pretty good up there…
Zev our server was outstanding! Great recommendations with salmon, chicken pot pie, & hummus plate.
Our group of five tried Wolf & Workman last week. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation, & they were able to seat us immediately. Our server was friendly & made recommendations as requested. He was prompt & helpful. We ended up ordering the Burrata & Mezze Plate for appetizers & the Hanger Steak, Beef Stroganoff Pie & Chicken Pot Pie for entrees. The Mezze Plate was amazing. I highly recommend this dish. It was beautiful & the flavors melded together so well. I loved it. I also loved my Beef Stroganoff Pot Pie. The beef was tender, the mushrooms tantalizing & the savory sauce blew my mind. Three members of our group ordered this dish, & we were all delighted. The Chicken Pot Pie & the Steak were also highly praised. This was a great dining experience.
Definitely recommend trying this pub in Old Montreal. We were a group of 8 people, on Friday evening, & they were able to accommodate us at the terrasse on the back. We stayed for drinks only, they have a lot to choose from & they are all tasty. Beautiful decor & great friendly staff!
Update : came back 2 years after my first review & would still give it a 5⭐. Tried the chicken pot pie, it was good but I prefered the beef Stroganoff pot pie.
We came here for drinks before our dinner at a different restaurant & we regretted not booking this place for our dinner instead. We were drooling over every food that was brought to other tables, we've noticed that the pot pie was the popular dish & I can't wait to try it next time I am in Montreal!
Hearty pub food in the middle of Vieux-Montreal. The mezze plate, burrata & fisherman pie were real standout dishes! We were seated in the outdoor terrace, where there was a fantastic ambience, great service & even dog friendly!
Amazing food & service. I mixed up my reservation & they were so gracious & kind & found us a table despite the busy Saturday night crowd. The food was very very good. Everything we tried - the hanger steak, the pot pies (so incredible), the fattoush - was delicious. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
Pub Wolf & Workman impressed in all the ways a top-rated restaurant should. The food, drinks, service, location, ambiance, & value; all excellent!
We made reservations well in advance for a Thursday evening at 7:30 PM. Upon arrival, we were greeted courteously & promptly seated in a dining room. There was a terrace at the back, which looked great & was full of people enjoying the good vibe.
The whole place was lively, with a vibrant buzz, but somehow it also felt warm, inviting & relaxed, as any place calling itself a pub should feel. The inside had an aesthetically pleasing mix of old-world, even luxurious charm, with a nice modern twist. Trendy, yes, but cozy, too.
Our server was very good. Prompt. Friendly. Bilingual. She listened & engaged & gave us bang-on recommendations. It was busy & she had several tables, but she was positive, attentive & readily available all evening. Great job!
The cocktails were on point. A Coconut Marmalade Horchata & a Wild Strawberry Margarita. I also had a nice pour of Murphy's Irish Stout. All were excellent.
We started with a delicious Howard Scotch Egg with maple syrup sausage, Branston chutney & arugula. Fantastic!
For our mains, we sampled from their famous'Pie Shoppe' & had the popular Chicken Pot Pie & Beef Stroganoff Pie. They were amazing. Eye-poppingly humongous & perfectly prepared. Which is better is a matter of personal preference (esp. re: chicken vs. beef), but in our opinion the Beef Stroganoff Pie was extra-delicious & peerless.
The Wolf & Workman left a great impression as a hospitable, somewhat upscale pub-style restaurant with a great offerings & a very nice blend of British/Quebecois vibe, right in the heart of Old Montreal.
