My friends & myself were once part of the furniture at McCarold's. Our long evenings were then filled with long forgotten & unproven manly-man tales of conquests & fortunes. For the sake of a healthier liver & as family duties were calling upon, I had to abandon ship & ancre my safety boat in a distant suburb. I still go back every now & then, so to remember the good times & the better times. Set almost at the foot of Mount-Royal in the busy, eclectic & diversified district of Côtes-des-neiges, in Frenglish Montreal, the venue offers plenty of seats, with several rooms & 2 terrasses. The selection of beers & liquors is one of the best in Montréal. The kitchen offers a pretty good selection of meals based on pubs' culture. For example the ever Oh so popular Ballymore burger & Shepherd's pie. If one feels adventurous, the burger with peanut butter, the Edson, or the Japanese poutine, the Chuck Norris, are worth the try. If you're thinking « lean », you can opt for a fresh salad as a side. If you're thinking blood pressure annihilator & heart attack, side for a poutine along the burger & keep your meds at reach. Besides minding my nutrition, I just love to sit on the terasse on the side by the church when the lilacs are in bloom during spring or in the fall at peak folliage. If you come around, please do say Hi to Martine & Mathieu, the loveliest staff I've ever met around. They've hold clients in respect for as long as I can remember. I'm positive they can show you where the bar still shows signs of wear from my elbows, as years of indulging pints after pints required appropriate support & balance. Cheers to all beer lovers !

Super bonne ambiance de bar !! Les bières sont bonnes, ce pendant ils ne font pas de pichets… la nourriture est correct, nous avons essayé la poutine spicy, les frites sont bonnes.

Leur poutine végétarienne avec le piment piquant est pleine de saveur & ils ont une bonne variété de bière & toujours un excellent service. Leur terrasse en été est aussi intéressante, malgré le bruit sur CDN, qui est faute de l'aménagement de la ville, pas eux.

Plusieurs options pour manger, bières, cocktails, etc. Dumplings, poutines, hamburger, etc sont vraiment bons ! Des bonnes bières en pression ! Il y a de "caipirinha". Une cocktail brésilien. Elle est bonne !

First time in Canada ! So I decided I needed to try poutine this place has good happy hour so I got one beer which was cheap. & then I tried a classic poutine, & a spicy poutine . I don't have a reference to compare it to since it's my first time eating it but WOW DELICIOUS.

Go for the beer & the burgers, the poutine messed me up for an entire day. Our waitress was divine !!!! Lovely as can be & for a pub on a Monday it was well packed.

This is exactly what we needed after a long day of travel! Had the pulled pork poutine. Will go back when in Montreal next.

Ambiance is still 5/5 Poutine bites/nuggets were still enjoyed but were much better last time I was here; it was nicely crunchy on the outside, this time they were not made with love so it seems No love from the Nachos either being plain & underseasoned Nachos 2.5 /5 Sweet potatoes were fantastic! Chicken wings were good Still hesitant to order a main dish again i.e. a burger or the ribs as they were very mediocre. Food used to be amazing here years ago. Always coming back here for the beer & good vibe though!

Super endroit, je recommande la poutine & la soupe à l'oignon! Le service est vraiment super, tout le monde est hyper sympathique & la déco est vraiment cool!

Excellent endroit pour souligner la fin d'un examen ou encore pour un 5@7 entre collègues.
Menu varié & délicieux, excellents choix de bonnes bières à prix raisonnables.
La soupe à l'oignon & la poutine valent le détour! :)
Le service est parfois très lent (ça dépend des serveurs), mais on va là pour décompresser de toute façon. Bémol : l'impossibilité de payer par carte en soirée...
