Pub McCarold is a fun, welcoming Irish pub in the Côte-des-Neiges area with a lively ambiance and solid food, including poutine, burgers, and fish and chips, plus a good beer selection that draws locals. The service is generally friendly, professional, and attentive, helping create a warm vibe, though a few reviews note occasional slower pacing or higher prices. Overall, Pub McCarold is seen as a local staple for casual meals, drinks, and socializing, with comfortable seating, multiple rooms and terraces, and a consistently positive sense of atmosphere.
Don't go here if you want to take Jameson whiskey, they don't have it. You will drink cheap drink instead & will be charged as for real one.
Don't recommend 👎

Decent pub in Universite de Montréal / Cote des Neiges neighborhood. A bit limited in the selection of beer but they do have all the classics. The food is good but rather pricey. A pint + a plate of fish & chips cost around $42 taxes & tips included.
Was waiting for our taxi only had about 15 minutes so my friend & I were going to order a quick drink while we waited the bartender came over after about ten minutes of us sitting at the bar I said we were going to order a quick drink but service took too long (mind you I said it politely) so I asked for a glass of water & he refused said service didn't take long & told us we had to leave like kicked us out - we waited for our cab in the cold it was pretty rude I think he was Intoxicated too we will never return & we live in the area

Good place went there several times the food is good but service is lacking & every time I go there. I keep calling the waitress or waitor to refill my beer or to remove my plates, napkins, cutlery etc but I physically dumped in the basket by myself & anything related to service towards the client sucks! The waitor had the attitude'I'm watching if you're gonna tip me' very lame! Once I had to get rid my own plate. The service is non existent, waiters just take order & come back only to give you the bill??? Music very loud.
My friends & myself were once part of the furniture at McCarold's. Our long evenings were then filled with long forgotten & unproven manly-man tales of conquests & fortunes. For the sake of a healthier liver & as family duties were calling upon, I had to abandon ship & ancre my safety boat in a distant suburb. I still go back every now & then, so to remember the good times & the better times. Set almost at the foot of Mount-Royal in the busy, eclectic & diversified district of Côtes-des-neiges, in Frenglish Montreal, the venue offers plenty of seats, with several rooms & 2 terrasses. The selection of beers & liquors is one of the best in Montréal. The kitchen offers a pretty good selection of meals based on pubs' culture. For example the ever Oh so popular Ballymore burger & Shepherd's pie. If one feels adventurous, the burger with peanut butter, the Edson, or the Japanese poutine, the Chuck Norris, are worth the try. If you're thinking « lean », you can opt for a fresh salad as a side. If you're thinking blood pressure annihilator & heart attack, side for a poutine along the burger & keep your meds at reach. Besides minding my nutrition, I just love to sit on the terasse on the side by the church when the lilacs are in bloom during spring or in the fall at peak folliage. If you come around, please do say Hi to Martine & Mathieu, the loveliest staff I've ever met around. They've hold clients in respect for as long as I can remember. I'm positive they can show you where the bar still shows signs of wear from my elbows, as years of indulging pints after pints required appropriate support & balance. Cheers to all beer lovers !
