About

Pub McCarold provides a traditional pub environment focused on hearty staples and casual comfort food. The menu centers on substantial burgers crafted with seasoned beef patties, fresh vegetables, and artisan buns that define the core culinary offering. Patrons frequently select the house poutine, featuring crispy fries topped with authentic squeaky cheese curds and a rich, savory gravy. The beverage selection emphasizes cold draught beers and standard pub spirits served in a high-energy, wood-accented atmosphere. Booth seating and functional bar arrangements facilitate a straightforward experience centered on consistent, high-calorie classic fare. The kitchen maintains a focus on speed and volume to accommodate the steady influx of guests seeking reliable, filling meals in a robust social setting. This venue prioritizes the fundamental elements of a classic pub experience through focused, flavor-forward dishes.

Review Summary

Pub McCarold is widely regarded as a staple in the Côte des Neiges neighborhood, consistently praised for its warm, lively atmosphere and impressive selection of beers, whiskies, and comfort food like poutine, burgers, and Irish stew. Many visitors highlight the friendly and attentive service as a core reason for their repeat visits, particularly noting the dedication of the long-standing staff. While the establishment is frequently described as a reliable spot for casual outings, sports viewing, or business meetings, some patrons have expressed concerns regarding recent menu changes, price increases, and occasional inconsistencies in service or food presentation. Despite these minor points of contention, the venue remains a beloved local gem that successfully balances the charm of a classic neighborhood pub with a welcoming, high-energy environment.

Great neighbourhood bar. Dark wood all over, patrons get to know you if you're a regular. The fried pickles are great, & the beer price at happy hour is the same as if you where buying your beer at a grocery..
