I've tried similar places in Toronto & Vancouver, but nothing compares. The chicken is always fresh, juicy, & full of flavor. Please open more locations across Canada-everyone deserves Poulet Rouge! Used to love this spot & am a regular there however, I have noticed that overtime they have become more stingy with the amount of toppings that they put & the sauce. Sometimes the chicken is hard to bite & stale too. One of the workers that's behind the toppings counter is so stingy, never smiles & is not friendly. I will continue going there as it is a convenient spot for me but will be reconsidering leaving tips.
I placed an order through Uber Eats. They don't provide the extra sauces i purchased separately & the chicken was lowkey dry as hell. Usually it's not like this.
Last time I ate here was months ago & I said to myself never again. I made the mistake & cane in today. Even worse.
The Owner or the manager need to look in the mirror & find out why these employees are so unhappy. All 10 of them look angry & miserable. Underpaid?
You literally have the ingredients to make a plate that is 3 times tastier. But When it is made with an angry attitude; it tastes like garbage. Let me prove it to you:
1- rice is cold not warm. Should be very hot. Shouldn't get cold within 2 mins of sitting down at your restaurant.
2- chicken is cold (every time). The idea to grill, sit aside then warm is clearly not working well for you. Chicken is disgusting if it is not served hot. Hot not warm (if you care enough to serve delicious food)
3-toppings. Line was clean to be fair. But the cooks are angry making it. Throwing the toppings with zero effort to nicely place toppings one by one without mixing & dumping them like mixing concrete. It is not only to make the plate look better. The taste does change when you dump toppings ob top of each other versus placing them aside & perhaps the cheese aside not right under the chicken.
I have 8 years experience cooking in restaurants. & I will never eat at this location (or any other poulet rouge for that matter). I am paying money I shouldn't feel like I'm at a shelter asking for free food.
It is a shame because the place has a potential. It can be a delicious healthy option.
One star is honestly too generous. This was the worst portion I've ever been served. The toppings didn't look fresh at all & tasted like they had been sitting around for way too long. The chicken was bland, the sides felt like an afterthought, & the whole meal was disappointing. Definitely not coming
One of my faite places for late night eats. You can make it healthy or you can make it fast food. There are multiple options. I like to choose the healthy option with lots of chicken & less sauces right after my workout so it is pretty versatile.
Amazing chickenn!!! Love the garlic one, everything feels so fresh!!
I eat a lot of Poulet Rouge, & this one is easily the best one in Montreal. The portion is bigger than others, the food always tastes fresh (even at 11:30PM), the people who work the grill are good at what they do & seem to enjoy what they do, & there's a student discount if you're a student. I don't even like chicken but theirs is always so good. This place also has a better poutine than others places nearby that are literally dedicated to poutine…
Sponsored our school committee with meals & gift cards! The chicken was cooked to perfection!
I can see now why this place is so popular. On my first visit the staff was really nice, showing me the options & asking me if I wanted any of the add ons. You chose how much chicken you want, 3 or 4 slices, & which sauce to use. They have a nice selection, the spicy version which I took was not very spicy, which was what the server had told me. But then you also get two bases (rice, bulgur wheat, quinoa or lettuce) & also you get 6 very fresh topping & a sauce. The food was very good, the chicken tasted great & all the toppings were fresh, even the side of tzatziki was good. Definitely a good choice for some fast food. It is unfortunate that even if you eat there, you are given a to-go bowl & a bag.
