The portion sizes were also fair. Alcoholic beverages were amazing too. I like that it's a smaller restaurant as it provides a cozier atmosphere but music was a bit too loud. Prices were decent as well. I would say service could be a bit friendlier & more attentive; it wouldn't hurt for the waiter to check in more often at the table (especially when it's not that busy, like when we went). They're good about refilling water glasses though. Additionally, I find it odd that we did not receive complimentary bread with butter. Usually at Italian restaurants that's what they do. So that was disappointing. I'd come back & I'd recommend this place to others, nevertheless.
Always heard good things about the place but never had the chance to dine there…until recently.
The atmosphere is clean & contemporary, with various Italian cultural icons & posters on the walls. A large TV plays soccer, drawing in members of the Italian community who gather to watch the game.
But how was the food? Fantastic! The crust is somewhere between Neapolitan & New York styles, while the toppings are generous, in true Montreal fashion. You can tell they use quality ingredients & don't skimp! Their prices are fair, & the food is delicious. I must go back & try more of their offerings.
Probably the best italian food I had with the family since 1968 when I first came to Montreal from Calgary. The daily specials are very originals well priced & absolutely delicious. I like to mention that I am an Italian food lover & an adventurer in trying out the proposed suggestions.
I'm absolutely obsessed with Gusto! Their pizzas are divine - fresh, flavorful, & cooked to perfection. But the real showstopper is their gnocchi with pistachio pesto sauce - it's heavenly! The combination of soft, pillowy gnocchi & rich, nutty sauce is pure magic. The service is also top-notch, with friendly & attentive staff. The cozy atmosphere makes you feel like you're in Italy.Gusto has become my go-to spot for Italian cuisine. Can't wait to come back & try more of their delicious dishes! Highly recommend for pizza & pasta lovers!
Pizzeria Gusto has a good selection of pizzas, with some other Italian dishes on offer as well. The pizzas seem very authentically Italian style to me. It has a spacious interior that flows into a large terrace. You can get a nice breeze of fresh air inside, without a lot of noise coming in from the street. Service is good & the prices are fair.
Cute little pizzeria in the heart of Saint-Leonard. It screams "Italian" in every way - food, decor, ambiance & clients. Great & rapid service, overall. For food, we took the arugala appetizer (ridiculous price for the size of the plate), the pesto gnocchi (sooo delicious!), the tagliatelle gigi (lacked in taste). The hot oil was indeed hot, but the concoction was basically more about the sliced peppers themselves than it was about the oil (as in you had to flatten the peppers with the spoon to get to the oil... Good thing I like the peppers, too... But if someone doesn't want extra consistency in their pasta dish, there will be). Overall good. Next time, I'll try pizza & other appetizers which looked good!
Horrendous service. Installed near door to the patio that would open & close every 2 seconds. Do not install patrons in front of a door at risk of getting sick from constant temperarure change. Really rethink your configuration. Waited 1.5 HOURS to get served. The owner/manager never once passed by to apologize or at least offer something to eat (even a piece of bread) & left the poor waitress to pick up the pieces. There were elderly people & children at the table & SPECIFICALLY asked that at the very least the kids be served first & they still waited 1 hour!!! How could you do that...what if it was your grandparents or your children? You call yourself an italian family restaurant? Restaurant seemed to be prioritizing take outs over serving patrons at the restaurant. Rethink your strategy. Very junior approach. A good owner/manager knows when to say NO we are full capacity & not take on more orders or at least warn the people calling it will be an extra 15 mins for your delivery. It came across as all they care about is $$$. There was enough wait staff so the issue was really about kitchen capacity. Also portion for tortellini was ridiculously small for a man & the restaurant used soup sized tortellini in a dry pasta plate...learn your tortellini. Thank you dearly for ruining our evening. Would never trust you for any family celebration. Never ever ever ever returning.
