I've been here many times & will continue to come, however, the service & food are very inconsistent. Last time I came for lunch the service was incredibly slow, which generally is not the case if it is not busy. The food here is generally good, however, during my last visit, we got a salmon avocado toast & as you can see on the pictures it was just sad. Absolutely not worth 21$+tax. The 17$ bagel lox was cheaper, bigger & tastier. My coffee also arrived cold. This is not the first average experience I had here. I wish there was more positive visits, but so far, it's a 50/50.
Overpriced & the avocado toast wasn't my style but overall good cafe
It's a cute café but incredibly disappointing. Previous visit had better food. This time, potatoes, eggs & avocado are bland. No salt available, must request it. By the time it arrived, food is cold. Toast was served dry, no butter. This must also be requested. After having paid, we were finishing up our coffee. A waitress (not the one who served our meal) came to the table, removed the cream & sugar & said'We beed the table. We have a reservation & they are already here'. I asked if she was asking us to leave & she simply said'yeah or maybe I can move you to another table'. She seemed to think that her request was completely reasonable. There were lots of empty tables. Why take ours ?
The food, service & attitude is not worth the price. It was my second visit but it will be the last. The client isn't valued in this establishment. High prices & high table turnover. What counts here is the businesses bottom line.
Ordered delivery. A matzo soup, artichoke dip & shashuka. We never tried matzo soup before. Mainly ordered it for my kid. But is it supposed to taste like Lipton soup & just plain dough ball? The cream cheese was super overpowering for the artichoke dip which kinda made me lose my appetite after a few bites. Shashuka was good. I wish we had ordered more toast.
We just had a family brunch there today. I can honestly say it was beyond delicious. We were talking about the french toast the entire day. The pancakes were also amazing as was everything else. Bonus was they were pet friendly! When I'm back in Montreal I will, without a doubt, be back!
Beautiful decor & athmosphere. Servers are always very enthausiastic & warm. It can be a bit loud though when it's lunch time because it gets full very fast. Food is amazing. I loved my avocado toast but might prefer the honey balsamic glaze on the side next time because it was very overpowering.
-il a fallu un peu trop de temps avant que nous recevions nos cafés; c'est à dire, un peu après nos plats;
-la portion de ce toast était petite;
&
-la porte de la salle de bain n'a pas d'ouvre-porte mains libres).
Went to Pigeon Cafe for the first time & I was blown away by the food, especially the avocado toast. Brielle our waitress was great & provided exceptional service.
too expensive for what you're getting. I got the smoked salmon toast & there are no sides for $20+. Although it did taste great! The iced chai latte was absolutely delicious
Very pretty location - it has a tropical vibe to it, very different, so love this about the restaurant. I visited twice in the last few months; the service the first time was on par (very busy Mother's Day - extremely loud - but waitress was present & attentive); the service during my 2nd visit was quite lacking (resto was not busy at all & the waiter kept taking breaks at the bar, on his phone - had to flag him down a couple of times). The various food dishes that we chose were good. The only dish (of those we tried) that stood out & was quite delicious, is the French toast with ice cream! The hot/cold combination in each bite was a surprise every time! A must-try. Although, as you see in my picture, they are a little stingy on the ice cream lol. Would go back if opportunity arose.
Ordering a simple two-egg breakfast, you expect to get 2 pieces of toast. Instead, they embarrassingly cheap out & take one tiny piece of toast & cut it into two. I asked for tea. Typically you bring a little metal teapot. Instead, they bring the tea bag & the cup. Tea is best enjoyed steeped. Most decent restaurants offer this. We weren't checked on during the meal, or offered more hot water or coffee. When I motioned the server over to ask for more hot water, she was about to go get it without asking if my friend wanted more coffee, which she did. My friend had a simple salad with no meat in it. The bill was 47$ plus tip. The place was empty, so it's not as if the servers were under stress. Perhaps they're getting that chain attitude, where quality & customer service starts to slip.
The occasion was a reunion of colleagues for Sunday brunch. I am a vegan & was pleased that an oat milk latté was suggested for me to drink. I ordered an avocado toast with a substitution of hummus instead of feta cheese. I was a little disappointed when a slice of toast arrived, topped with the avocado, a spring mix of greens, & a drizzle of vinagrette, on a bare white plate. Not even a few slices of tomato to give the plate some color. Thank goodness my friends had fries with their orders (which they were not allowed to eat), so I was able to reap the benefits. I was just a little underwhelmed.
This place was such a vibe! Very beautiful inside & out. We tried the breakfast/lunch menu. It was a bit smaller than expected. Prices were a bit more higher than expected. They had a great selection in bar drinks & hot beverages. I ordered the basic salmon avo toast, & my friend for the shakshua which was very delicious to add a gingerbread latte & to end with key lime pie dessert. The service was great, I definitely would come back to try their dinner menu!

This was my first experience at Pigeon. I was quite excited as I heard about the Monkland location which I have not gone too yet, & thought it would be the same.I actually asked the hostess if Monkland was owned by the same owner & she said they are now franchised. We were so disappointed to start.
1. Waiter was not attentive to the need of the customer. & the restaurant was empty for a Sunday at 12 noon.
2. Food was prepared earlier as the avocado toast was brown in colour, fresh avocado would be green & appetizing this was horrible, & eggs that were poached were probably sitting in warm water all morning, as when we cut the egg water came gushing out all over the plate, what a disaster! The salmon thankfully was ok that lay over the brown avocado, with some disgusting pickled onions thrown onto the salmon!
3. Very disappointed. Very overpriced. Plate was empty no fruit or potatoes simple hard bread wet eggs with water leaking everywhere. Hollandaise sauce was on the side that should be tasted before serving it. My friend ate half her meal as even a bagel lox & cream cheese was poorly presented.
4. Coffee was ok, for the one mug we paid 3.50$ for & the waiter never bothered to come back to ask if we wanted more coffee or water.
5. When we got up to leave he asked was everything ok ladies? He could not care less so we said nothing. Table next to us said the exact same thing. Bread was not fresh food disappointed & that during the week food was better. They were 4 people & what a shame!
Shape up guys as 52$ for 2 small breakfast meals Is very very expensive plus tipping. 60$ for this well not worth it. Educate your cooks & & teach them proper cooking skills
