I ordered a pesto pasta it was soggy & stale tasted like it went bad. I feel sick 😫 The lattes were cold. The waiter was rude. You need to have better quality control. Really disappointing experience. I wasted my hard earned money on stale food.
I visited Pigeon Café (Monkland location) earlier this week, & unfortunately this was my second time seeing a rat there.
During my first visit, I informed my server about what I had seen. They responded quickly & said they would notify management immediately, & even offered a discounted meal, which I appreciated at the time.
However, on my second visit, I saw another rat. When I spoke to the same server, they told me that management was already aware of the issue but had not yet taken action.
Seeing a rodent once is already concerning, but seeing one again on a separate visit - especially after it was reported - raises serious concerns about cleanliness & food safety. I hope management addresses this issue promptly.
I went to the one on monkland. The food was great & the service was great too. The only problem was the ceiling was full of spiders & spider webs & some spiders were crawling down from the ceiling. This was during the summer. The owner really needs to have the restaurant fully cleaned properly.
Walking on Monkland January 1 & the only place open was pigeon. Just wanted a cafe, being very busy, I got service with a smile. NO CHARGE - HAPPY NEW YEAR. I just loved it.
Although I am very familiar with Monkland street scene, I only recently discovered this cafe. It is a little gem: a combination, coffee shop, brasserie, bar & lounge all in one. As a coffee shop where I also work some times it is perfect: nice ambiance not very crowded & reliable internet, & good coffee :) As a brasserie they have a solid selection & the food is quite good. As a bar I don't drink much, but as a lounge I really like to come here in the evening waiting for my son that takes lessons next door & enjoy a nice meal, some tea - the staff is very friendly, food is great - I can unwind & do some light work at the end of the day - I cant really ask for more.
Great food, atmosphere & service at Pigeon Café on Monkland! Thank you, Lucas! Yummy delicious eats, lots of variety, fun ambiance, courteous staff who accommodated a couple in wheelchairs & were very understanding when I brought in a stroller. The grilled veg & haloumi sandwich on sourdough bread was Deelish & the waffle fries made me craving for more. Yum!
A cafe on restaurant row on Monkland Avenue in Montreal. Pleasant atmosphere, friendly but harried staff. We found the food to be just ok. Dog friendly.
Had a great lunch at Pigeon cafe on Monkland! The schnitzel sandwich was delicious. Our waiter Yaakov made our dining experience even better! Great service & very friendly! I will definitely come back.
Best coffee in town & Yaakov are waiter was a star! A must if on Monkland Ave.!
One of the best spots on Monkland for a night out. The terrace is beautiful & the staff is always nice!! Special thank you to Ava who took care of us yesterday.
We went to Pigeon Café on Monkland this afternoon for a late day breakfast. Called ahead to make sure they serve breakfast all day & that we weren't ordering breakfast items at a time they dont normally serve it. Numerous breakfast items were 100% on the lunch menu. We were VERY disappointed. I ordered 2 eggs over-easy with grilled salami, breakfast potatoes, & white toast. The eggs were fried hard & crispy, the grilled salami was paper thin, & had obviously been sitting around for quite a while. It was dry & inedible. The deep friend potatoes had been left-over from lunch, dry, dehydrated, & cold, finally the toast was unbuttered. My fiancee ordered the Avocado toast, the Avocado was not ripe & hard to cut & eat.
The restaurant was not busy at all, only 3 other tables & 3 or 4 wait staff. This is when you should be at your best bcuz you don't have an excuse like'we were busy'. If you can't excel when it's slow & you're not busy, then either you're just bad or you don't care. As a (now), retired Master Chef, I would NEVER serve food like this at any time, let alone when the restaurant is almost empty & I have more than enough time to get it right. I hate giving bad reviews as it can really affect a business, but when it's this bad & there is no reason for it, it has to be said.. in saying that, I also believe owners/managers need to know whats going on. They can't fix something if they don't know its broken. Based on todays visit, I do not recommend Pigeon Café on Monkland. ⭐?⭐?
The pigs in a blanket & their version of chick-fil-a waffle fries are a 10/10. The rest lacks taste & some dishes do not taste great at all. The breakfast sandwich is decent, but overpriced as it is an easy dish to make phenomenal with very little ingredients. The Shakshouka tastes like dish water & I unfortunately do not want to go try other dishes, as the service was lacking both times.
The first time it was getting busy & so we gave the server the benefit of the doubt, but I came a second time with someone else & could not for the life of me get proper service or the bill for that matter. & no information as to how it worked once we were finished. Lack of communication.
I wanted this to be a cool brunch place since Hopkins closed a while back on monkland, but this is far from a replacement.
I was there with a friend yesterday. The bagel was not toasted. We ordered poached eggs, taste mostly like vinager & not cooked properly. That was the last time we went there. Compare to what we had, price was too high. We used to go there all the time when Bagel Monkland was there. But now, unfortunately, it is not the same at all & not worth it.
The only reason I go there is the location in Monkland for a coffee, music is loud, food has no flavor whatsoever.
I am living in town, near the place bht It was the 1st time visting it. Impressed by the food, the vibe & the quality of service. The waitresse was nice shes was respectful. best place on Monkland. See you next time soon.
Food is good, service is awful & indifferent & the noise level is deafening. On the two occasions I have frequented Pigeon Cafe on Monkland, it took more than ten minutes to be seated - even though there were multiple empty seats & tables & between three & six service staff at the bar, plus a line of people waiting to be seated. Once seated, service is super slow. It's like the staff just don't give a damn, they seem to be more interested in talking to each other. The saving grace? The food is good. But at the price & the cost of a less than great dining experience, I won't be going back any time soon, or recommending it to others.
Food is great but service depends on the location, the Monkland one has bad service. The waiting was so long to order & to get a simple order. We would at least appreciated if someone came & checked from tome to time.
Nice atmosphere & great patio on monkland. Service is slow & portion size is also on the small side. Food is just average. They have some vegetarian options . A little pricey but nice option, especially the patio.
