Upon arrival the lux & inviting atmosphere provides a warm, inviting & visually stunning interior, for an authentic Taiwanese dining experience you'll want to enjoy again & again.
I was first impressed by the beautiful decor with Thai cultural artifacts when stepped inside. Then everything went downhill from there. The waitstaff were helpful but clearly novices in table service. My beer was served with a glass but not poured. My appetizer arrived long before my wife's, & then I had to wait a significant time for my main dish after she received hers. The food was decent but overpriced for its quality & lacked the authenticity of true Thai cuisine. The most annoying part was the cramped tables that obstructed aisle, customers & waitstaff repeatedly had to ask me to scoot in.
This place has nice decor & ambiance but just decent food. Taste is not authentic & portion is also on the smaller side.
Authentic Thai food. The taste is very rich. Cozy & great ambiance. I come here so often that I already tested all their lunch menu & all were good! I always chose mango salad as appetizers & they're the best! The staffs are friendly. A bit pricey but worth the experience! Our serveuse, Sarah, was excellent:friendly & helpful.
I had an amazing time with the family at this authentic Thai restaurant. I would definitely recommend it for anyone in the area. Staff is absolutely amazing. I was served by Davy, & she was running the place mostly alone in the front & it was 10/10.
Do you enjoy eating in an Asian restaurant with no chopsticks? Do you enjoy eating "authentic"food while listening to country music? Do you enjoy being surrounded by elderly white folk? Then this is the right restaurant for you!
Including all that was just mentioned, the biggest issue is the price point. This food should not be more than 11$ max for the "fancier"dishes. This is neither fine nor authentic cuisine, it's very Westernized. To be fair, the food is not bad, it's still got flavor, it's just very overpriced for what you're getting. This place confirms the #1 rule you should have in Montreal, never eat anywhere that has the words "authentic" or "fine" in the title.
My wife & I went out for dinner & walked into Pick Thai. We were greeted by the owner with a warm smile & a friendly hello. She sat us at a table & we were struck by the authentic Thai ambience. We had ample time to choose our dinner from a full, but not excessive, menu. My wife had the salmon & I had the tofu with mixed vegetables. Her plate came with two large salmon filets which were perfectly prepared. My dish came exactly as I had envisioned & was very tasty. The presentation was lovely for both dinners. We did not order dessert because we were full from the main course. We had a very quiet intimate dinner & we feel very comfortable in highly recommending Pick Thai to any one who wants a quality dining experience.
A great surprise. From outside you never guess this restaurant has such nice decor, the ambiance is casual & elegant, good taste everywhere you look.
The wine list is fare, the menu attractive, the prices just. We went to Thailand a couple of years ago & tasting the food in the well proportioned dishes brought us back to the authentic flavors & atmosphere of that beautiful country.
The thing I would improve is the service. There should be at least one waiter in the area. It looked as if there was only the owner & a young man for all the tables.
You have to try it!
We had the most delicious meal at Pick Thai. What a treat to have a brand new, gorgeous Thai restaurant in the Decarie/Vendome area.
You'll have to watch out because the location may not be where you expect it - you have to walk up a short set of stairs in what looks a bit like a condo. But once you get inside, you will notice that the decor is beautiful - rich, dark wood paneling, floor to ceiling mirrors, & impressive accents from around the world.
The food was a hit as well. Everything was so fresh, hot, & delicious, with the perfect mix of sweet, sour & a touch of spice.
We had a fantastic appetizer of Nuea Thod Katiem (Bite sized beef chunks mixed with garlic & Thai herbs & deep fried)on salad - which was crispy & delicious. & not just any beef was used - they used Filet mignon. Next we shared Yam Mamuang - mango salad with lime, & peppers. Again - a real hit.
For mains, we shared the classic Pad Thai with chicken, which really was the perfect mix of sweet & sour topped with fresh, crunchy bean sprouts, & Green Curry with shrimp which had the delicious sweetness of coconut milk punctuated with a hit of spice. I think there might have been a touch of melon in there which was very creative.
As I said, everything was piping hot & so fresh. When you are used to "fast food" Thai, there is nothing that beats made-to-order, authentic homemade Thai.
& the couple who run the place are the sweetest.
We will definitely be back!
