This cozy and homey restaurant can accommodate up to 60 people in their front and back rooms. Their outdoor terrace can hold 20 customers, opened when weather permits. The sounds of local and traditional Italian music fill the air, adding to the authentic theme. Their casual and family-style dinning is comfortable and inviting. The colour palette is a mixture of reds, yellows and black. There is also a vintage “vespa” scooter theme to the place, with black and white pictures adorning the back dinning room.
Reviews describe Pasta Casareccia as a cozy, homey Italian spot with fresh, authentic pasta and a warm, attentive staff. The menu offers a wide variety of pastas, including meat and vegetarian lasagnas, and dishes such as lasagna, boar ravioli, pesto burrata pasta, and ink pasta with seafood are frequently praised for flavor and quality. The atmosphere is welcoming, with some reviewers noting a lively vibe and outdoor seating in warm weather. Desserts and beverages, including house made cannoli and cappuccino, are well received, and many guests appreciate the option to grab prepared pastas for takeout. Service is often praised as attentive and friendly, though a few comments mention occasional rushed or uneven service and some concerns about value for money, with prices described as high for the portion sizes by a minority. Overall, Pasta Casareccia is seen as a strong, authentic Italian option in the area, delivering satisfying meals, generous portions, and an inviting vibe that brings regulars back.
Finally tried this restaurant after hearing their commercial on CJAD 800 many times. Fried calamari was a win & they had my fav tortellini! Quality beats Bevo Pizzeria, pricey but worth it for authentic Italian! Tiramisu was pretty good too. Perfect spot for a Valentine's meal! 🍝❤?
The lasagna & pasta are the best on Sherbrooke West. An Italian gentleman served us & gave the best suggestions. He was very welcoming, & the place felt cozy.

This has to be one of the best Italian restaurants in Montreal. It's been located on Sherbrooke Street in NDG for decades & I've been going there with friends for a very long time. It's a real treat. We always order different dishes each time we go &, each time we go, the way the food was prepared offered a really pleasingculinary experience. Perhaps what I'm about to say is the same for all high-end restaurants: when the waiter describes the various chef's specialties for the evening, the decision to choose one over the other is so difficult! They always sound so good. &.... I've not been disappointed.
We drive by this restaurant often & decided to go based on positive reviews on Google. Review in a nut-shell is: school cafeteria level food for $200 for family of three. Would have been acceptable had it been priced at $100. Now for the details: Restaurant is a family restaurant established 40 years ago or so. Decor is reminiscent of a American dinner with vinyl banquettes, art deco light fixtures, small tables with paper covers. They have a fridge with counter to buy ready made meals, pastries, Italian sausages & cheeses. We liked the vibe & no-fuss decor. Service was acceptable considering the atmosphere. The food was of a level that one would be served as a school meal. For appetizers we ordered caprese salad & bruscheta, good old iItalian stalwarts. The bruscheta was sliced untoasted bread served in a basket with a ramekin of confi'd small tomatoes with unpitted olives which you had to assemble yourself; image the untoasted bread becoming soggy with the whole tomatoes bursting into juice. The caprese was also served with confi'd tomatoes in a ramekin with the mozzarella sprinkled with a few shred of basil. I regret not having taking pictures to illustrate that sorry sight. The meals were pasta dishes & chicken parmigiana. Presentation was unappealing & sloppy, the ingredients in the pasta indecipherable &, surprisingly in a place that sells fresh pasta, the pasta was overcooked & mushy. Remember these $12 school meals with the stale bread? Those are them. Apparently the biggest crowd pleaser is the tiramisu & that was not available at 6PM on a Friday. You got the picture?
