Pros: The sandwich was very filling & tasty. Ingredients tasted fresh, especially the bread. The café also has an incredibly cute interior. The young woman who works at the counter, I think a local college student, was very kind & friendly. Unfortunately I didn't catch her name, but she kindly wrote down a few off-the-beaten-path spots for me to check out when I mentioned I was visiting Montréal from New York City. Cons: My only critique of the food is that, as other reviewers have mentioned, the portion of fries served as a side is a bit excessive. It's not a side of fries but an entire basket filled to the brim. I was only able to finish maybe 1/4 of the fries. & I'm someone who loves fries! I know that potatoes are relatively inexpensive, but it does seems wasteful since I doubt many people take a to-go box for all those leftover fries & they probably end up in the trash. Overall a good lunch experience! I'd love to visit again to try some of their other menu items, especially their more Italian offerings.
Elie found this café & suggested that we go & discover it together. To set up is a little bit weird, you order from the main cash. They place your order you find a seat & they serve it to you. There's nothing weird about it. It's just confusing when you get in because they don't necessarily explain it to you. we've seen other places give a kind of number that you place on your table to identify one to the person that they know what to expect & two for the server to bring the food to the right table. We ordered a couple of sandwiches & a Caprese salad we decided to go with the large size which in all honesty was a little bit too big . There was cheese & tomatoes, which is great, however, way too much balsamic & not enough basil. For people who have travelled around & have eaten various types of Caprese salads (not that we're being snobby) but this was not one of the better ones sadly. The sandwich was OK, the bread was really good. However, we didn't really care much for the chopped up lettuce inside & the lack of certain toppings like bacon for instance . There were just a few strips, barely enough to cover the bread area. The fries, however, came in the gigantic basket which we were unable to finish. It was OK to visit. The decor inside is nice. a nice place to visit if you're looking for a quick breakfast in a downtown area of Montreal.
The steak panini is delicious! I highly recommend trying it, the bread is crispy, the meat is tender, it's flavourful & easy to bite down. All around fantastic sandwich. On the other hand, it should be illegal to charge 5.75$ for a 14oz latte made with an automatic espresso machine. The price of latte is justified by the craft, care & intention put into the cup. This coffee was not it at all.
Sandwiches are good, bread is great & they offer a nice variety of combinations but we find they could add more (quantity of cold) meat to them. The staff is welcoming & the place is nice & clean.
