We had an amazing experience at Paparmane Montreal! As vegetarians, we were thrilled with the variety & taste of the food-it's often hard to find great vegetarian options, but this place exceeded our expectations. The mocktails & cocktails were equally impressive. While it's a bit on the pricier side, every dollar is worth it for the food, drinks, & the beautiful ambiance. The location is fantastic, making it perfect for a special outing. You can check out some photos from our visit on my Instagram: @chitrayuk
On y retourne ?
We had the most magical time at Paparmane today. My husband & I went to celebrate my birthday. I made a reservation online & let them know at that time that I have celiac disease. The owner of the tearoom personally emailed me a few days later to follow up on my need for a gluten free menu which I thought was amazing.
When we walked in today I was thrilled with how whimsical the atmosphere was. The staff that met us at the door was very friendly & instantly asked us which member of our party had celiac disease. She reassured me the staff was very knowledgeable & trained in celiac awareness. This made me feel very comfortable.
Our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable & very attentive. He took the time to explain the menus & how food allergies are easily accommodated.
Once the food arrived the presentation was beautiful & thoughtfully arranged. The taste was unbelievable! Having celiac disease finding gluten free food that tastes wonderful is very hard to come by. The food here made me incredibly happy with every bite. I savoured every morsel! I cannot express how delicious everything was. My husband had the vegetarian option & loved every bite as well.
I cannot say enough about how much we loved our experience here. I was also delighted that I was able to purchase some loose leaf tea to bring hone with me as well.
I cannot wait to return again to Paparmane for another beautiful & magical experience in the future!
Pros
-beautiful decor
-lots of menu options for dietary needs
-relaxing environment
-reasonable pricing for afternoon tea
Room for improvement
-the food has a lot of room for improvements. The scones are too dry. The dessert was decent. The strawberry one was not very good.
The savory portion needs the most work. The brie cheese & bread was very
The herbal teas were not very good. Tried two versions & they were both very sour.
Really beautiful tea house. The dishes are pretty good as well & they have a decent selection of teas. They do sweet & savory options too. Decent value as well.
I've always enjoyed high tea & last had it at the Savoy Hotel in London so my expectations were relatively high. I was charmed by the entire experience, right from the moment I looked into the front window still decorated for the Christmas season. We were greeted immediately & brought right to our waiting table. The decor is whimsical, the service was both friendly & attentive & the food was a lovely mix of traditional with a Quebecois twist, as advertised. I will be returning next month with my two elderly aunts who I know will just love the experience, from decor to menu! We inquired as to when they had opened & were told last April (2024). For a relatively newer establishment, they have the feel of having been around for a lot longer! Love that we have this new option in the city!
Beautiful "Alice in Wonderland-ish" experience. Delicious bites (incl vegan options) of high tea delights served on beautiful 3-tier service trays. Prix fix at $60. Vegan options. Great selection of teas served in your own pot. Service is attentive, & the decor is delightfully fanciful. A real treat. Great for a special occasion. Practically no waiting room, so bundle up if you're outside. (Went in Jan.) & it was a bit loud to hear around our table of 4.
This high tea place is incredible & cozy for anyone looking for a fun English afternoon! We ordered the Classic high tea stack, that came with 3 layers, one of more savoury lunch items, one of scones, & one of desserts! It also came with infinite tea of choice! (55$) The first layer of savoury was ok. Noteable favourites being the potato pancake with beef ontop that was tender & crispy, the deviled egg that was heavy but creamy & had a delicious consistency, & the grilled pesto sandwich that was light & tangy! The rest of the options where ok, but more or less left untouched. The second layer had 2 scones aswell as a homemade strawberry jam & a light cream! One scone was just regular & was dense & delicious, but the second was chamomile & vanilla flavoured which was INCREDIBLE! If i could have a whole basket of it i would. The final layer contained 4 desserts! A chocolate mouse which was the perfect portion, & was very light & the right amount of dark chocolate (even had a dalgona peice ontop!). Aswell as a raspberry cake, me & my friend persenally did NOT like the cake as its a very specific sort of almond raspberry blend, I'm sure some people like it but it was quite over powering & perfumey. Another was a tiny apple tart bite, it was light & the cream was fluffy & tasted, but slightly disappointing due to the lack of apple taste. If it had more of an apple concentration inside it would really taste better. Best for last was the seasonal pumpkin macaron, it was light & perfectly encapsulates the pumpkin flavour & spices of autumn. The teas were delicious & me & my friend got to have multiple different types, each accurately fitting their descriptions. Noteable favorite being the Sugar Shack, a black tea with a maple after taste & scent! Overall, we rate our experience here a 8.5/10! Besides the food, the services was incredible & the building is just super beautiful & well decorated. Perfect for a friend meet up, mother daughter date, & an insta photo shoot! Make sure to come on empty stomach!!
We had the vegan platter & it was excellent ! Service & atmosphere were on point, we really enjoyed our experience. So happy we could find a vegan option on the menu.
Came here with friend. Staff were friendly & the restaurant is cute. Food was decent & some were actually good. but one person is $50, after tax it's around 65-70 per person. To me with $70 I have many different options & probably doesn't need to pay this much to get good food. I never experienced high tea so it's a good experience to me, but it's not something I will come back again.
Adorable restaurant with amazing service, delicious food & a nice range of tea options.
What a lovely tea experience at Paparmane. My wife & I are afternoon tea fan's but haven't found a spot in Montreal that reminds us of any of the fun tea rooms in Europe. Paparmane delivers on every front. The food was amazing. The ambiance was divine & the service left nothing to be desired. I especially appreciate the vegetarian, vegan & gluten free options as well as the inclusive bathrooms that make this queer girls heart very happy (as well as feel safe.) ***VERY LGBTQIA safe space
A very beautiful & tasty experience. Everything was top notch. We were 3 couples who made reservations for 2pm on the first Sunday after their opening. We were seated in a beautiful living-room-like seating arrangement of couches & armchairs. The menu is set at $50 including teas with a choice between vegetarian & classical for the food bite trays. One can order are extra drinks or special food bites-of-the-day for an additional cost. Each person received a 3-tiered food tray with mouth-watering goodies. 4 savory options are at the bottom tray, followed by tea biscuits with jam & cream on the second, & yummy desserts bites at the top. Every bite we had was incredibly crafted & tasted so good. The service was impeccable, the decor & ambiance are rich while remaining friendly & welcoming. A classy way to pamper someone special.
