THEY WATER DOWN THEIR DRINKS. We had to ask 3 times to change our sodas because they all tasted like water. For 6$ for one drink it is absolutely absurd to get watered down drinks. Their food is not good.
The food is okay, but it definitely isn't worth the price. We reserved a table for 2 hours to watch the WCF game, expecting to relax, have a few drinks, & order food throughout the evening. Instead, as soon as we sat down, our server insisted that we order both our appetizers & main courses at the same time - odd . We explained that we only wanted appetizers to start & would order more later, but she refused. The whole evening felt unnecessarily rushed - there were plenty of tables available. She kept pushing us, cleared my plate before I had finished eating, & then brought the bill without even asking if we wanted dessert, saying,'You can pay now, but you're welcome to stay.'
This place came highly recommended, but we had a very disappointing experience. Our food took an hour to arrive after ordering, & even after that was cold. Service for drinks was slow, & they couldn't figure out how to get their projector working after advertising that they would be showing the World Cup games. I would stay away.
We decided to try this place since it's beautiful. It took the server 20 to take the drink order & after other 20 min waiting for the drinks we decided to leave. I ask the host to tell the server to cancel the order cause after he took the order we never saw him again. They were not even busy.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but unfortunately our experience at Pangea in Montreal was very disappointing.
We travelled from Toronto & encountered severe weather & flooding along the way. We were literally blocked from accessing our street & ended up running late for our reservation. We called ahead to let the restaurant know, & the woman we spoke with on the phone assured us that it would be fine.
When we arrived, however, we were told that we could enter only if we paid $15 per person, but that no food would be available. Since we had specifically come to eat, we decided to leave.
We returned the following day for lunch, hoping for a better experience. When we arrived at approximately 2:30 PM, we were told that lunch would not be available until 4:00 PM & were only provided with a breakfast menu. Considering it was well past lunchtime, this was very surprising. We decided to stay for drinks, but even those orders were repeatedly mixed up.
The only bright spot of our experience was a short Black woman who spoke French. She was incredibly kind, helpful, & professional throughout our visit. She was the only staff member who made us feel welcome.
Unfortunately, the woman working at the door was extremely rude & seemed unhappy to be there. There was also a male staff member who appeared more interested in Snapchat than serving customers & even forgot about our order.
If you're looking for good food & reliable service, I would recommend going elsewhere. If you're only interested in the atmosphere & social scene, then Pangea may be for you. In our experience, the vibes were prioritized far more than the customer service or dining experience.
Food & drink here were both delicious!

The lamb chops & tzatziki were yummy & the burrata & prosciutto pizza was insanely good 😍

We just wish we'd tried this place earlier into our holiday & not on the last evening!
If you come to Montreal you must stop at Pangea. They have amazing cocktails & can make other drinks per your results. The calamari was delicious as was the halloumi & feta & olives. Our server made our meal so much better. He was lively & funny. He treated our future bride like she was the star of a show. Thank-you Pangea & Stephan for the best meal in Montreal!
WARNING: Do not go here. You will get extorted. I felt extorted by the short bartender with a man bun & a beard. After paying $55 for 2 drinks, 1 double gin & tonic, 1 single, bar rail (plus tip) he demanded I tip more. Last time I checked, there is no mandatory standard for tipping in Montreal. He claimed I had to tip 18%, meanwhile the service was HORRIBLE. I had to wait 10 minutes for my drinks because he was having a conversation with other people while serving me. If you expect a standard tip, I expect the standard level of service in which I actually get attended to without having to wait an absurd amount of time. He threatened to manually add the tip to my next order, essentially forcing me to pay for something that is NOT legally mandatory, while providing sub-par service. We made our way out when he was distracted serving bottles to the table next to us & dancing as I felt I would be confronted. Pangea, if it wasn't already obvious, here is something to think about - maybe you should pay your employees a living wage so they don't need to rely on customers tipping 18%. It will help you retain business. Place was cool though! Guy at the door, awesome. I'd tip 18% if I knew a cut was going to him.
