About

Pangea serves a diverse menu centered on Mediterranean culinary traditions presented in a streamlined bistro format. The kitchen emphasizes fresh produce, grilled proteins, and herb-infused preparations that capture the essence of coastal regions. Patrons encounter an interior layout featuring exposed brick textures and open seating configurations that prioritize functional flow. The menu focuses on small plates and shared platters designed for direct flavor profiles rather than overly complex arrangements. Culinary execution relies on traditional techniques such as open-fire searing and light citrus glazing to elevate core ingredients. This approach to Mediterranean bistro culture creates a cohesive environment where the food remains the central focus for every guest. Every dish demonstrates a commitment to ingredient sourcing and straightforward preparation methods that define this establishment as a significant representative of regional culinary staples.

Came to visit from Ottawa, absolute 10/10 service from Stephane. Offered complimentary mimosas upon our arrival due to the anticipated wait since they were transitioning out of their brunch menu. Stephane was very attentive & built great rapport with our whole table. If you come here definitely ask for Stephane!

I was really expecting this place to impress, it looks beautiful! But unfortunately this was not the experience I had.

We show up at 12:27pm for our 12:30pm reservation, & multiple waiters & waitresses pass us as we wait to be seated. 10 minutes pass while standing in the sun, & finally we are seated.

Cocktails are the same price as the meals, great!

I order the mushroom shakshouka, my partner the full breakfast, & a coffee. We get water poured, it is not refilled for over 30 minutes. Our food takes 45 minutes to come out. They forget my partners bread & the coffee. The bread comes out 15 minutes later so my partner already ate their food since it was going to go cold. The coffee never comes. The shakshouka eggs came with only 3 small triangles of bread, nowhere near enough to eat all the food.

Overall, extremely disappointing & I won't be back.

Tourist trap! Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. The service was inattentive, & the chicken sandwich was poorly prepared, the chicken was dry, & the pita was soggy. We requested tissues & ketchup, but neither ever arrived despite asking. Between the poor service & subpar food quality, this restaurant seems to rely more on its location than on providing a good customer experience.

Nourriture ok
Boissons chères

I rarely leave negative reviews, but unfortunately our experience at Pangea in Montreal was very disappointing.

We travelled from Toronto & encountered severe weather & flooding along the way. We were literally blocked from accessing our street & ended up running late for our reservation. We called ahead to let the restaurant know, & the woman we spoke with on the phone assured us that it would be fine.

When we arrived, however, we were told that we could enter only if we paid $15 per person, but that no food would be available. Since we had specifically come to eat, we decided to leave.

We returned the following day for lunch, hoping for a better experience. When we arrived at approximately 2:30 PM, we were told that lunch would not be available until 4:00 PM & were only provided with a breakfast menu. Considering it was well past lunchtime, this was very surprising. We decided to stay for drinks, but even those orders were repeatedly mixed up.

The only bright spot of our experience was a short Black woman who spoke French. She was incredibly kind, helpful, & professional throughout our visit. She was the only staff member who made us feel welcome.

Unfortunately, the woman working at the door was extremely rude & seemed unhappy to be there. There was also a male staff member who appeared more interested in Snapchat than serving customers & even forgot about our order.

If you're looking for good food & reliable service, I would recommend going elsewhere. If you're only interested in the atmosphere & social scene, then Pangea may be for you. In our experience, the vibes were prioritized far more than the customer service or dining experience.

Organized a networking event here & the venue alone made it feel special. Beautiful space, great location, the kind of place that sets a good mood before you even sit down.

Prices are what you would expect from a restaurant in the Old Port, & it delivers on that promise. The cocktails are beautiful. & the salad was, genuinely, the best salad I have had in a long time.

If you are going to splurge somewhere in this city, this is a solid choice.

Food & drink here were both delicious!
We had'Happy little cloud' cocktails which made us happy little customers!
The lamb chops & tzatziki were yummy & the burrata & prosciutto pizza was insanely good 😍

Topped off by amazing service from Sheldon who gave some great recommendations of places to visit too!

We just wish we'd tried this place earlier into our holiday & not on the last evening!

Keep up the good work!

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience here was very disappointing.

My friends & I ordered four tequila shots. The server never asked which tequila we wanted & never informed us of the price. Instead, he simply served what appeared to be the most expensive tequila available. The total came to approximately $73 for four shots, which was a surprise given that no options or prices were discussed beforehand.

The most concerning part of the experience occurred when it was time to pay. Because the bill was already much higher than expected, my friend chose not to leave a tip & entered 0% on the payment terminal. The server immediately cancelled the transaction & told us that a minimum 15% tip was required in Quebec.

When I questioned this, he continued to insist that 15% was the minimum percentage in Quebec. This is simply not true. Tipping is a personal choice unless a mandatory service charge has been clearly disclosed in advance.

To make matters worse, when I went to pay using tap, the server took my debit card out of my hand & handled the transaction himself. I prefer to keep possession of my card at all times, & this made me uncomfortable.

We understand that tipping is customary & we normally tip for good service. However, the lack of transparency regarding pricing, the pressure to leave a tip, & the handling of my payment card created a very negative customer experience.

I have no issue paying for quality products or service, but I do have an issue with being served the most expensive option without being given a choice & then being incorrectly told that a tip is mandatory.

I hope management takes this feedback seriously so that future customers do not have a similar experience.
