Pangea serves a diverse menu centered on Mediterranean culinary traditions presented in a streamlined bistro format. The kitchen emphasizes fresh produce, grilled proteins, and herb-infused preparations that capture the essence of coastal regions. Patrons encounter an interior layout featuring exposed brick textures and open seating configurations that prioritize functional flow. The menu focuses on small plates and shared platters designed for direct flavor profiles rather than overly complex arrangements. Culinary execution relies on traditional techniques such as open-fire searing and light citrus glazing to elevate core ingredients. This approach to Mediterranean bistro culture creates a cohesive environment where the food remains the central focus for every guest. Every dish demonstrates a commitment to ingredient sourcing and straightforward preparation methods that define this establishment as a significant representative of regional culinary staples.
Pangea is widely celebrated for its stunning, aesthetic decor and vibrant atmosphere, making it a popular choice for celebrations and social outings in the heart of Old Montreal. Many guests highlight the high quality of the Mediterranean-inspired dishes and the creative cocktails, often noting the generous portions and flavorful presentation. A significant contributor to the restaurant's positive reputation is the exceptionally friendly and attentive service provided by the staff, who frequently go out of their way to ensure guests feel welcomed and well-cared for. While some diners have noted challenges regarding noise levels or occasional service delays during peak hours, the overwhelming consensus points to a memorable experience defined by high energy, delicious food, and standout hospitality.
tourist trap - glasses & seats were consistently dirty, bathrooms were out of toilet paper, most of the dishes could have been desserts they were so sweet, loud / top 40s music, took forever to get the bill - & super overpriced for what it was
Alright so i went there today for a birthday party. First off, the music is WAY too loud yall we can't even hear each other talk OR the servers. Also, they didn't bother telling us beforehand that since we were 10+ people, we automatically all had to pay 20% tip, which i've never heard ANYWHERE before. Again, didn't even mind that like that. Let's get to the food. I ordered what seemed to be a good chicken sandwich & let me tell you it was not good enough for the price i paid. fries came cold & unseasoned, & on top of that, i had a RAW peace of chicken in it (that i bit into). then i obviously tell them cus mistakes happen. i'm not even expecting another plate at all i was full & that shit made me nauseous, but the server says he's gonna go see the chef n 30 seconds later he comes back with the same plate & tells me: oh no don't worry the chef said it's okay. bro are u serious??? who in the hell is okay wirh serving their clients raw meat bruh. anyways, i'm NEVER going back bro. the girl serving us was really nice tho she made it way more enjoyable but still.
The service was amazing & definitely the highlight of the evening. The ambiance was very enjoyable as well. It's a supper club, so the music was quite loud, but it fit the atmosphere & created a lively vibe.
As for the food, it was a mixed experience. The tartare was okay, but not particularly memorable. The pieces were cut much too large, which affected the texture & overall enjoyment.
The cod dish was disappointing. The textures felt off, & the combination of celery, asparagus, white beans, & peas did not come together well. The flavors seemed to compete rather than complement one another, making the dish feel disjointed. I'm not sure what kind of palate would appreciate some of these combinations, but they simply didn't work for me. I wasn't the only one who felt this way-everyone in our group who ordered the fish was disappointed.
I also tried the mushroom ravioli. It was decent, but it was so salty that it overwhelmed the other flavors & made it difficult to appreciate the dish.
On a positive note, dessert was excellent & ended the meal on a high note.
Overall, it's a beautiful venue with great service & a fun atmosphere, but the food felt overly experimental & inconsistent. While the setting & hospitality were impressive, the dishes themselves missed the mark for me.
The food was good but the portions are small. My friend ordered a Coke; it came in a small glass & got charged 8$. The music is very loud & we couldn't hear one another when talking, but it's that kind of vibe I guess. Excellent service from the waitress 🌟
We were visiting Montréal from L.A & were referred to Pangea by a local friend, & even some friends of ours from New York insisted we had to try it - & they were absolutely right. From the moment we walked in, you could feel the energy of the place. The staff were incredibly welcoming & you can genuinely tell they love the establishment & take pride in what they do.
The food was fantastic. We started with a few appetizers to share & everything was fresh, flavorful, & beautifully presented. The mains were just as impressive - perfectly cooked & full of Mediterranean flavors. The cocktails were also excellent & paired perfectly with the meal.
What really stood out was the service. The team was attentive, friendly, & made the whole experience feel special without being over the top. It felt like everyone working there truly enjoys being part of Pangea.
The atmosphere is amazing - elegant but still lively. It's the perfect place to start with dinner & end the night enjoying the music & vibe.
We'll definitely be back next time we're in Montréal. Highly recommend.
Such a beautiful experience. We were greeted outside by the hostess who walked us to our table, which already felt so welcoming. The olive tree inside the restaurant was such a special touch. it honestly reminded me of my hometown in Málaga.
We came on their Latin night & it was amazing, the energy & music were incredible. Our server Angelica was so sweet & made the night even better.
Amazing food, beautiful atmosphere, & such a fun vibe. I can't wait to come back.
