Context.
This is one two locations (the other in the West Island).
This place appears to be clean & organized.
When you walk in I was greeted by multiple black flies buzzing around & throughout the time not one staff member made any noticeable effort to rid the establishment of these unwanted guests.
Staff were friendly & helpful.
Cooking is open kitchen style & immediately on your left at the street windows when you walk in.
Atmosphere is typical old style Greek restaurant decor & not a place one would think to get all dressed up for - but you can.
Food seemed fresh.
Green house salad.
Simple house dressing, chopped lettuce & a few shreds of carrot. $10.00. Rip off. Nothing more to say as a salad it was nearly useless & non competitive with the marketplace.
Tzatziki
Runny, lacked flavour & overall was not worth consuming. Small portion $3.50 *without any bread or pita included.
Grille while chicken.
Completely lacked flavour.
Way overcooked.
White meat was dry.
Seasoning was so poor that even adding the typical spritz of lemon didn't make much of a difference. I could have been eating this chicken at any type of (cuisine) restaurant.
Roasted potatoes.
We were told that there was to be seasoning of a typical Greek style with fresh lemon S & P garlic, perhaps some herbs like oregano etc.
Potatoes were lacking flavour & even with salt added & dab of pepper it was just bland.
The potatoes lacked much texture as most Greek style roasted potatoes have some browning on the exterior creating a much more enjoyable texture & as well flavour. These potatoes were not treated with love, the were cut up & tossed on a pan with some ingredients & shuffled about & placed in the over & left to cook. I care & you can easily taste it & see the result as well as they looked greyish & with one potato with a large blemish. This is not Yaya's cooking at all.
Bottom line from a food perspective alone, not worth the time, the stomach space nor the high price for food I can easily cook superior chez moi. You go to a restaurant to eat joy food & hope it's at least as good as what you can make yourself. It's a let down when it's not even as good as you yourself can make it. This place has been around for a while & I don't understand how & why unless they have reduced their attention to quality & detail but this is not a repeat restaurant to visit. If they can't make the basics well, how can I believe that can cook the more complex dishes such as seafood & fish as well as lamb to perfection let alone my own standard.
No.
Not again & no I will not refer this restaurant as it's a waste given the completion. I mean, go to Yia Sou Greek Grill on queen Mary road & see what these dishes are & you'll see what I mean it's like light & day.View more
Always amazing. Delicious & served with a smile. We ordered the calamari plate with the pork souvlaki platter. Both amazing. Salad dressing was also very tasty. Iconic neighborhood restaurant that's been around for years for a reason.View more
Very friendly staff.
Food, all dishes were tasty.
Being from out of town, it was strange to be charged things like an upgrade fee for a Greek salad given that we were in a Greek restaurant. & pita as well. I am accustom to these items being part of, & included in the price point of the meal or dish ordered. However, everything was great, & I will reiterate that both the staff & food were absolutely great. Thanks for a great experience.View more
Top Greek food in town. Excellent service. Delicious. Group of 8 & took good care of us. Fried Zucchini/eggplant, fried calamari, Greek Salad & mixed grilled meat plater was top notch. Highly recommend 110%View more
This place is the most authentic Greek food you could have the honour of eating at… the portions are generous, the quality is excellent & the service is 5 stars! Best calamari you could ever eat anywhere! The Greek salad with chicken is out of this world & so is their tzatziki & grilled pita bread!
There is nothing you can order that isn't fit for a king & a queen!!! Best servers ever!!! Prepare to have your mind & stomach blown away after eating here! The Jean talon ouest location is the bomb!! I highly highly recommend!!!!View more
My experience was pretty ordinary. The food wasn't bad but wasn't great either. We had the mixed plate appetizer, which tasted fine, but it came with 4 small slices of bread, no pita or anything. & we ordered the Greek sausage. Again, it tasted fine, but 20$ for a single sausage with some ordinary rice & potatoes, & a salad with commercial dressing... It was alright, but it's overpriced for what it is, & I've definitely had an experience that has nothing to do with what people are raving about.View more
We ordered the octopus appetizer & it was cooked to perfection. We came as a group of five, one of us being a small child, & we ordered the octopus, greek salad, mixed meat platter & a salmon plate. More than enough food to feed the group. All the ingredients were so fresh, we thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The service we received from the group was also excellent. It made the experience more enjoyable.View more
A bit noisy cause the place was packed. Food is the best! My favorite restaurant. Always enjoy. Shared a whole fish, sea bass, cooked to perfection, yummy potatoes & a Greek salad.
Your salad dressing could be improved !!! Olive Oil & wine vinegar perhaps & not Kraft Italian venegret.
Too crowded noisy, the meat was not very tender, amazing Greek salad, calamari & octopus amazing ,seating is too tight.
Delicious authentic Greek food.
Our salad, spreads, calamari & lamb chops were fresh & delicious!
Our server Louis was attentive & had great recommendations. Thank you for a great lunch !
We went out last night for supper, finally, after a long time & we had a wonderful time.We were greeting by a lady with red hair with such a warm & kind attitude.& then the waiter was extremely attentive with us.We had roast lamb, calamari, grilled chicken,Greek salad, octopus & a few drinks. The food was outstanding.Definitely we will go back.Thank you to all of you at Panama for making the effort to serve us so nice.BRAVO!
Excellente assiette de crevettes grillées. La salade grecque est excellente aussi mais un peu chère, comme l'eau pétillante à 7$ la bouteille.
Simple Greek taverna decor. Friendly service. Food (fried calamari, Greek salad, Mediterranean Sea bass) very good to excellent but a little expensive overall. I always resent paying 3x SAQ price for very inexpensive wine.
Service chaleureux. Nourriture délicieuse. Essayez les aubergines/courgettes frites & la salade grecque : un régal!
Nice restaurant, nice atmosphere. Fried calamari was the show stopper but it was a bit pricey. The Greek salad was above average & the pork souvlaki in pita was good. Staff was fast & courteous. Recommended.
