Oh let me tell you about this place, I went there, for a small birthday. We were 3 & we were relatively hungry, exceptional service asked the waiter to suggest something, he suggested small Greek salad, a seafood platter & meat platter with lemon potatoes, all of which they were absolutely amazing, I highly recommend this place, beware though you're paying top dollar for it. However, the quality is great, The service is quite amazing, I still can't get over the name though. ?? For a Greek place??, but there's a beautiful story that goes with that. You can ask the waiter when you get there!
Context.
This is one two locations (the other in the West Island).
This place appears to be clean & organized.
When you walk in I was greeted by multiple black flies buzzing around & throughout the time not one staff member made any noticeable effort to rid the establishment of these unwanted guests.
Staff were friendly & helpful.
Cooking is open kitchen style & immediately on your left at the street windows when you walk in.
Atmosphere is typical old style Greek restaurant decor & not a place one would think to get all dressed up for - but you can.
Food seemed fresh.
Green house salad.
Simple house dressing, chopped lettuce & a few shreds of carrot. $10.00. Rip off. Nothing more to say as a salad it was nearly useless & non competitive with the marketplace.
Tzatziki
Runny, lacked flavour & overall was not worth consuming. Small portion $3.50 *without any bread or pita included.
Grille while chicken.
Completely lacked flavour.
Way overcooked.
White meat was dry.
Seasoning was so poor that even adding the typical spritz of lemon didn't make much of a difference. I could have been eating this chicken at any type of (cuisine) restaurant.
Roasted potatoes.
We were told that there was to be seasoning of a typical Greek style with fresh lemon S & P garlic, perhaps some herbs like oregano etc.
Potatoes were lacking flavour & even with salt added & dab of pepper it was just bland.
The potatoes lacked much texture as most Greek style roasted potatoes have some browning on the exterior creating a much more enjoyable texture & as well flavour. These potatoes were not treated with love, the were cut up & tossed on a pan with some ingredients & shuffled about & placed in the over & left to cook. I care & you can easily taste it & see the result as well as they looked greyish & with one potato with a large blemish. This is not Yaya's cooking at all.
Bottom line from a food perspective alone, not worth the time, the stomach space nor the high price for food I can easily cook superior chez moi. You go to a restaurant to eat joy food & hope it's at least as good as what you can make yourself. It's a let down when it's not even as good as you yourself can make it. This place has been around for a while & I don't understand how & why unless they have reduced their attention to quality & detail but this is not a repeat restaurant to visit. If they can't make the basics well, how can I believe that can cook the more complex dishes such as seafood & fish as well as lamb to perfection let alone my own standard.
No.
Not again & no I will not refer this restaurant as it's a waste given the completion. I mean, go to Yia Sou Greek Grill on queen Mary road & see what these dishes are & you'll see what I mean it's like light & day.

Had a disappointing experience at Panama Jean Talon last night. Their quality is slipping.
The whole chicken that we ordered was not a whole chopped chicken but instead random backs, necks & misc dark meat. They gave us leftovers. Also, they ran out of roasted potatoes - at a Greek restaurant early a Saturday night?!
I went yesterday with my friend for the first time. We got there the waiter an other lady. She gave us the menu for food & drinks. A few after she came back. We told we did look at the drinks as yet. She came back asked if we are ready to order. Really she was rude. We told her we would like a Rosa & A glass of beer. Well I did not know you don't have beer only in bottle. I decided to take a Rosa as my friend did. Then the waiter was like you are not allowed to have drink without supper. We were very offended. Why would we go to a restaurant that have a meal. Sit in the dining room & decided not to eat. We order our supper had two more drinks dessert & an Entrée. The rice needs more flavor the potatoes were boiled than grilled. It was a an okay experience. We will not be coming back. The waiter just ruined our evening.
My experience was pretty ordinary. The food wasn't bad but wasn't great either. We had the mixed plate appetizer, which tasted fine, but it came with 4 small slices of bread, no pita or anything. & we ordered the Greek sausage. Again, it tasted fine, but 20$ for a single sausage with some ordinary rice & potatoes, & a salad with commercial dressing... It was alright, but it's overpriced for what it is, & I've definitely had an experience that has nothing to do with what people are raving about.
The service at Panama is great, our waiter was lovely. We enjoyed the calamari, the fried zucchini & our pita. We took the chicken pita platter; it was good but I'll admit that there wasn't so much chicken in the pita & I was disappointed that on the platter you get two potatoes (literally 2).
A bit noisy cause the place was packed. Food is the best! My favorite restaurant. Always enjoy. Shared a whole fish, sea bass, cooked to perfection, yummy potatoes & a Greek salad.

Your renowned tasty chicken was as delectable as ever, the roasted potatoes were out of this world, probably one of the best we've tasted & the grilled octopus was delicious!
All that topped up with some fabulous spreads, nice wine, & great company, made for another fun jaunt at Panama.
The food is tasty, but nothing extraordinary. Portions are good they have to work on doing the rice better(better taste), & the roast potatoes were like boild.
First time I went there it was with my family. We were 4 people & we have been very pleased with the food & the gentleman who served us was very courteous. He took the time to explain the menu & their specialties. We had the grilled chicken, grilled vegetable & a plate of potatoes. Food was so delightful that I went back by myself, a few days later. At the end of my diner, accompanied by a house wine, the server surprised me with a delicious dessert offered by the "cuisine". If you like good Grec cuisine, Rôtisserie Panama is the place to go.
What a great place to go with your friends & family on a Friday night dinner party. If you look around everyone is pretty much ordering the same dishes, pikilia, fried zucchini & eggplant, saganaki, grilled octopus, horta, sea bass, lemon potatoes, & on the weekend get the roasted lamb. Make sure you leave room for their delicious honey soaked loukoumades. Prices are very reasonable, for 6 of us under $300 including wine. Bravo!
