About

Palomar focuses on the pristine quality of seasonal fish and marine ingredients presented with technical precision. The menu emphasizes the raw purity of the catch complemented by artisanal charcuterie boards that highlight traditional curing techniques. Ingredients arrive daily from local purveyors to ensure a rotating selection dictated by harvest cycles and oceanic availability. The kitchen employs minimalist preparation methods designed to accentuate natural flavors without unnecessary embellishment. Patrons interact with a space defined by utilitarian design elements that mirror the honest approach to product sourcing and preparation. This establishment prioritizes the direct connection between market freshness and the final plate for those seeking a straightforward culinary experience centered on coastal provisions and cured meats. Every dish serves as a testament to the rigorous standards maintained throughout the sourcing and assembly process.

In late february, I connected with the resto online to see if they had any vegan options other than the side dishes (buk-choy & mushrooms) prior to making reservations for 3 as one of the guests was vegan. Much to my surprise I was told that with advanced notice, they could definitely do something. SO I proceeded with reservations & added a note that one of the three guests was vegan. Needless to say when we got there, they claimed to have no clue of who had reservations & if anyone had any dietary restrictions (Claimed that their system was down). Surprising & disappointing given reservations where made two weeks out. SO, while two of us had a meal...one had half buk-choy with a couple of slices of mushroom....Sad, given no attempt was made to turn the side dish into a main dish. As far as the dishes & sides were concerned: The buk-choy side dish was tasty as was the reuben sandwich although the later was a way too greasy/oily. As far as the fish & chips...my personal view is that a white fish is more appropriate than salmon especially in its format/presentation. Finally, beverages were limited. All in, a little disappointing as I had heard good things about the place. All

Very nice a quaint indoor eating area. I really enjoyed the quality of the fish. Some of the best fish I’ve had & I usually don’t like fish. They do get very creative with the dishes & that’s what I think stands out the most. Like having a tuna burger that tasted nothing like what you would think fish tastes like.

Too small portions fried in old oil.
The fish & chips had no fish & no taste! Frito mixto could even be plastic...

Great atmosphere, very nice & quick service & amazing food. I happily fell on this spot at Jean Talon market. It's both a resto & they sell some pretty awesome specialty fish products. Simple wine list but that's not what you come here for, you come for the food. Had the Frito plate, the swordfish & the fries. The swordfish has this crazy house smoked bacon on top & it's served on this insane corn mash. I was blown away. Live the amazing vibe. Will definitely be back. I literally want to try everything on the menu. They even have brunch! How crazy is that! A breakfast sandwich with a shrimp patty instead of sausage. I really do want to try everything on the menu. Important note, th brunch, lunch & dinner menu are all separate so you can't have brunch at dinner time. Thanks for the great food Palomar! I'll be back!

Nice new spot at the Jean Talon market. Went here on a lovely warm day in the beginning of September. Ordered fish'n chips & a beer.
Fish was good with thin crispy batter - not a lot of fish, but fine. Chips were just warm when served, soft & not at all crispy. Asked for some salt & extra mayo with the fries, which came right away.

Staff was excellent, smiling & welcoming.

I like the Silo beer brand, & this was a great beer.

I will be coming back, but I won't have chips next time...
