About

Palais D'Ajit specializes in traditional Indian cuisine with a comprehensive focus on vegetarian dishes that reflect authentic regional preparation methods. The kitchen utilizes a diverse array of whole spices and aromatics to craft complex gravies and dry preparations that highlight the inherent qualities of fresh vegetables and legumes. Diners encounter a menu featuring items such as paneer specialties, seasoned lentil preparations, and vegetable biryanis that prioritize bold and balanced flavor profiles. Freshly baked breads cooked in a tandoor oven serve as essential accompaniments to the textured sauces and curated vegetable curries. The interior environment emphasizes a functional approach to service that keeps the focus entirely on the seasoned, plant-based culinary offerings. Every dish presents an uncompromising exploration of subcontinent flavor traditions through consistent spice application and careful cooking techniques.

Review Summary

Palais D'Ajit is widely regarded as a hidden gem in Verdun, consistently earning praise for its delicious, authentic, and high-quality Indian cuisine at very reasonable prices. Patrons frequently highlight the butter chicken, samosas, garlic naan, and unique options like dosa as standout menu items, often noting that the flavors are among the best in Montreal. Despite the modest, dated, or unassuming appearance of the venue, the cozy family atmosphere and exceptionally warm, friendly, and professional service create a welcoming dining experience. With the added convenience of being a BYOB establishment and offering generous portion sizes, it has become a favorite local destination for both regular diners and those visiting the neighborhood.

My preferred Indian restaurant in the region. One of the very few that make dosa, which are really good. Best to be eaten there because wrapping them & taking them home will lose the crispiness (but soft dosa are still good too).
