GreekMediterranean
Ouzeri offers a refined dining experience with traditional Greek meals designed to please the palate. These delicious meals offer something for the discerning diner, preparing meals like octopus, calamari and shrimps served in wine or ouzo. The refined Mediterranean specialties are not limited to seafood, however, and chicken and lamb are house favourites.

Review Summary

Ouzeri is noted for a long-standing Greek and Mediterranean menu with many diners praising tasty, well-prepared dishes, fresh ingredients, and friendly, efficient service at times, along with reasonable prices that invite returns. Yet some visits were marked by slow, distracted service and a sense that the dining experience has shifted after a recent ownership change, with the vibe feeling more expeditious and less intimate and some dishes appearing less well presented. Favorite items are highlighted as grilled calamari and other seafood, brochettes, and saganaki, while some dishes were described as bland or lacking flavor or the overall menu as variable. The atmosphere is often described as convivial and welcoming, with a tapas style breadth and a bilingual menu, though on other nights the mood can feel rushed or less attentive from staff. Overall, Ouzeri remains a well-regarded spot for Greek fare with many praising its quality and value over the years, but there is evident variability in service and preparation that leaves guests hoping the restaurant preserves its warmth and authenticity while sharpening consistency.

Let me begin by saying that I specifically created an account here so I could review this restaurant - Ouzeri has been one of my worst dining experiences to date, & I go out quite a bit for dinner parties or just on the context of trying something new. I had ordered the lamb moussaka, yet the waiter heard something else & brought me the wrong dish. I simply pointed out that it wasn't what I had ordered & may I say,the waiter's anger went from 0 to 100 within a matter of seconds! The woman yelled at me in front of the dinner group (mostly acquaintances I didn't know too well might I point out, so this alone is embarrassing beyond words), took away my plate & stormed off.

As a reader you might be tempted to think that I said something offensive or that I might have had an attitude which provoked the waiter. I can assure you this wasn't the case as there were enough witnesses around me wondering why she flipped her lid, to put it mildly.

When I did get my food, the moussaka was alright; a little too heavy on the eggplant if there's such a thing, but I'll be honest, I hardly tasted it after the confrontation. I just ate for the saké of eating what I was going to be paying for.

Long story short, I was made out to be the demon customer, neither she nor the manager apologized (in fact, she was giving me stink eye while I was eating) & she fully expected me to tip her at the end of the night.

I didn't enjoy my experience. That'll be the first & last.
