On se spécialise dans la confection de kürtőskalács aussi connu sous le nom de gâteau cheminée en français! Toujours cuit frais! We specialize in the making of kürtőskalács or also known in english as chimney cake! Always freshly baked!
Reviews portray Ol' Sweet Pastry as a cozy spot where chimney cakes are baked to order, crispy on the outside and soft inside, offered in flavors like cinnamon sugar, pistachio, Nutella, and berry creations, with many saying the pastries are fresh, flavorful and appealing, and that watching them be made adds a special touch; the atmosphere, decor and friendly staff receive frequent praise, and customers often note good value for Montreal, with some calling it a memorable detour and a must visit for dessert lovers; there are occasional notes about limited seating and parking and the wait time during peak periods, and a few reviewers mention variability in taste or sweetness, but the overall sentiment is enthusiastic and many say they will return and recommend Ol' Sweet Pastry; there is one unusual negative anecdote about an incident observed locally, but it does not define the overall positive impression of the fresh, high quality treats and attentive service.
Delicious chimney funnel cakes in the Plateau. Freshly made to your specs & served steaming hot from their special ovens. We had the basic cinnamon sugar coated cake, & the Arachide & cie (Nesquick coated & peanut butter spread inside, filled with chopped bananas & topped with salted caramel ice cream). Excellent place, fun place to visit when you're on Rachel Street.
Exceptional service. Our first time there staff was super sweet & explained our choices. The desserts were delicious we can't wait to go back. There should be a place like this in Laval. Very different type of dessert & sooooo delicious. Thank you
What an awesome & special experience !!! The team was so friendly & efficient :) All your hard work & delicious chimney cakes are genuinely appreciated! Köszönjuk nagyon szépen 😀

This was my favorite experience in Montreal so far! Walked past & smelled something delicious, so we doubled back after lunch. I was mesmerized by the way these pastries are made & by the time my order was complete, I was ready to apply for a job! I got the coconut with Nutella spread & my bf got the cinnamon sugar with Nutella & both were delicious. 🤤
We visited Ol' Sweet after hearing mixed reviews about the shop, both good & bad, & decided to experience it for ourselves. Right from the start, the staff made a great impression. They were incredibly welcoming & attentive, asking if it was our first time. They took the time to explain how things work, guiding us through the menu & helping us choose the perfect cone cake based on our preferences. The atmosphere in the shop is quite simple. There's nothing overly fancy about the décor, but everything was clean & neat. There's a small bar where you can sit, as well as a table with chairs by the windows, which gives the place a cozy, laid-back vibe. One thing that stood out was some of the reviews I'd read, where people complained about not having access to the restroom. Honestly, I'm on the shop's side with this. They explained in several responses that the preparation area is close to the bathroom, & based on my own work experience, people don't always respect hygiene standards. Many leave restrooms in an unpleasant state, which can be a nightmare for businesses, especially when food is being prepared nearby. Now, onto the most important part-the food! Ol' Sweet offers two types of cones: sweet & original. The sweet cones are ready-made & served quickly, with the option to add your favorite ice cream flavor. There are many flavors to choose from, so there's something for everyone. On the other hand, the original cones are customized to your taste, which takes about 15 minutes to prepare. This makes them perfect for those who want a unique, freshly made treat. I opted for the Chocoholic cone with Nutella & banana, filled with Coaticook ice cream. The portion size was huge for me that I shared it with my kid. We both loved it! I also tried the original cone, filled with coconut & Nutella, & it was just as delicious. Even after taking it home, it still tasted amazing, & a quick reheat in the microwave brought it back to its freshly made state. On a less positive note, I wasn't too thrilled with their homemade lemonade. Unfortunately, it's like most lemonades I've tried from various shops-more like lemon-flavored water. It lacked the right balance of sweetness & citrus that I was hoping for. One more thing I want to mention is that Ol'Sweet has two different menus: one for the summer & one for the winter. They'll be rolling out their winter menu next week, & I'm excited to try it, especially since it features custard & cream, which sound perfect for the colder months. As a tip for those looking to experiment at home, you can get an empty cone from the shop & fill it with melted cheese or other toppings for a savory treat.
The roll without ice cream was really good. My husband & I shared one with pistachio spread inside & pistachio crumbs outside. We had to wait for about 5-6 mins because they only start baking it upon you order. It's amazing served fresh.
