I really wanted to like this place. The service was great & I like the quiet vibe but I go to restaurants for the food &, unfortunately, it left a bad taste in my mouth (literally).
I ordered the chicken burger & katsu sando. The chicken burger was ok. The toppings are what were underwhelming. This was definitely not a particularly memorable fried chicken sandwich.
Now onto the katsu sando (fried pork sandwich). This is one of the worst sandwiches I've ever had. I should have expected to find it terrible when I saw honey mustard & worcestershire sauce as toppings in there. The worcestershire sauce is the particularly egregious choice here; it makes it so that you end up with a sour tasting pork sandwich despite how well cooked the pork is. Worcestershire sauce has very few redeeming qualities to me. I thought that maybe it would magically work with fried pork but I was wrong, oh so very wrong...
For those reasons, Café Ohayo gets a 2 out of 5 from me. Great staff & nice little place but I did not enjoy my food.
This is an amazing Japanese style cafe with great food & drinks! You order at the front, & your food is brought out to you very quickly. On a nice day, this cafe has lots of really natural lighting & a really minimal, cozy atmosphere. We tried the niku miso ramen tantan & the ebi burger along with an iced americano & the matcha yuzu cloud. Both dishes tasted super fresh & delicious. The drinks were very tasty as well, & overall, everything was presented very cleanly. If you're looking for a taste of Japan during your Montreal vacation, come to Ohayo!
I was under the illusion that there was onigiri here. Oops there wasn't.
I got the vegan ramen. It was good. Maybe a little pricy what for what it is though. No protein? My friend got the Katsu Sando. I don't think it was as good. Maybe it was too much bread? She mainly ate the inside.
I would still come back. Mainly interested my from the side restaurant.
The burger was good but could be more flavorful! Chips were fun to eat. I had a chai latte that was also mid, needed more depth in flavor, but everything overall was okay! Slightly overrated place for food :)
Café ultra calme
Super acceuil. Souriante
Flat White parfait
Such a cute place. A lot of plants everywhere. I tried one of the specialty lattes which was latte au sesame noir w/ almond milk. Which is black sesame yes. Very out of the norm for me & I absolutely loved it. I'm glad I'm in my era of trying new things! I didn't get anything else but looked like they had good food options.
Stopped in for coffee; Ohayo is a cute place with authentic Japanese food & treats.
We had a quick stop here & unfortunately didn't have time to try their food, but the espresso was delicious & people were friendly. Hope to come back someday & try their food!
Really impressed by Ohayo Café. As someone from Japan, I'm picky about dashi in noodle soups, & their soba broth was excellent. The flavors were balanced & authentic. The dorayaki was fresh & soft, & the coffee was also great.
Great Japanese café with quality food. Definitely worth a visit.
I love the cute little Japanese cafe in the plateau. I ordered the Japanese curry on a cold autumn afternoon & it was very warm & comforting. Their black sesame latte was also great.
Had the hot chocolate after a long walk in the neighbourhood in the rain. The atmosphere was great with an amazing playlist.
This Japanese café was beyond my expectations! We had hojicha, café latte, & tamago sando - they were all very good. The service was great too. I can't wait to come back & try the ramen & other items on the menu.
