We got up bright & early & it was a delightful way to kick off the day! Filled with delicious & tantalizing flavors in an inviting atmosphere.
We couldn't resist trying the beloved Tamago Sando, &, as it turned out, it was an exquisite choice. The dish featured fluffy egg, & the delightful addition of salmon was simply divine.
Equally impressive was the Ebi burger, which was just as incredible & satisfying. We were also fortunate enough to sample the weekend special: the Katsu Sando. It was nothing short of amazing, full of complimentary flavors that came together so harmoniously, showcasing the expert craftsmanship of the chef (whose genius we already knew).
Every drink we ordered was perfection. The sesame latte was creamy & nuanced, while the matcha yuzu lemonade provided a refreshing flourish that balanced the richness of our food.
For dessert, we enjoyed a lovely red bean dorayaki-light, fluffy, & filled with sweet red bean paste; it was lovely.
A fantastic start to the day, with every dish expertly crafted & every sip delightful. We left feeling satisfied & eager to return for more of their innovative & delicious food! 🌟🍽?🍵View more
I stumbled across this cafe while i was walking in the area. There are lots of seating with great lighting & lots of large windows for some sunlight.
I got the matcha latte & sesame latte. The matcha latte had great flavour & i didnt add any sweetner (maple syrup is offered). It was perfect! Then i ordered a sesame latte but note that this is already pre-sweetened. It was a little sweet for me but there was a really robust sesame flavour which i love. For lunch, i also ordered an ebi (shrimp) burger. If you've been to Japan's McDonalds, then you know how popular ebi burgers are. I have to say this tasted better than the McDonalds' one so i was pleasantly surprised.View more
one of the better matcha drinks i've had in canada so far. the strawberry matcha latte with oat milk was so so good! if i didn't come 10 min before closing i would are ordered another one for the road! the yuzu limeade was refreshing & actually had great yuzu flavor & pulp. most yuzu drinks i've had at other places don't have a strong flavor but this one hit the spot. highly recommend this cafe!!View more
View more
Very cute spot, didn't get anything but their matcha, they don't make it the traditional way it was a little disappointing 6.5/10 for the matcha latte (not the best, but I have seen worse). Their food looks very good, I'd have to go back to try it. Their table have a sign that says that we can't study there, but still there were people studying after the lunch'rush'. Nice café!View more
One of the best coffee shops of 2024 in Montreal!
I was delighted to see reviews like Tastet praise this incredible Japanese coffee shop!
Let's give a breakdown of each aspect of the coffee shop:
Food: From the Mazemen to their ramens, there is a little bit of everything! Their kitchen usually opens at 10:30 am EST. This does not mean that you shouldn't pass by!
In fact, the whole point of this review is to explain how good the coffee & the food are !
I am quite the cortado lover & it is incredible how they are able to take such care of each coffee. Their matcha is definitely worth it & I would invite everyone to give this a go! One of my favorite coffee shops in Montreal is September café because of their consistency & each barista being skilled with making precisely every kind of coffee. This is a coffee shop that is quite close in terms quality of coffee that September café makes.
Which brings me to the food! This is such a delight & it feels like I've gone back to Japan all over again! Rich, comforting! Their dishes are something that I can continue eating all day long especially the mazemen. I strongly recommend trying each of their dish!
Atmosphere: calm, welcoming, peaceful & beautiful! This is the kind of coffee shop that makes you want to stay long hours & enjoy the vibrant & serene place! This is feels like a coffee shop in Copenhagen.
Service: this is where they stand out from most! Incredibly kind, caring & focus, each coffee & meal is being cared for. The owner is incredibly kind & knowledgeable when it comes to coffee (grains, technique & other topics). This is the kind of coffee shop where I would love a James Hoffman to pass by & drink their coffee.
I strongly recommend this Japanese coffee shop!
If you don't believe me, I invite you to read up on food critics like Tastet to see what they think! 😄

Love everything on their menu (especially the vegan ramen). A kids friendly spot. Amazing lattes (matcha one). Friendly staff. What more to ask!View more
Excellent service pour take out . Prix du petit matcha à près de 7$ avec taxes très moyen ..Pour la moitié de ce prix à 1 coin de rue sur la même rue vous en trouverez un bien meilleur sans parler du café ou des excellent croissant au saint Louis café . A bon entendeur !View more
I got the matcha yuzu lemonade & the katsu sando. I loved the lemonade, perfectly refreshing. But my sandwich was mostly fat & not meat which was disappointing. & I saw a chunk of red in there as well. I'm sure it's just a mistake, so I'm willing to try the restaurant again but not really open to giving the katsu another go. :(View more

A wide variety of set menu items & a constantly changing menu of refreshing specials, with an addition of great coffee, matcha & hojicha lattes. Delicious food, great atmosphere & a beautiful, bright location. On the menu: • Lamb Mazemen: Pulled lamb, black sesame paste, green onions • Soba Tanuki: Ikura, daikon, wakame, shiso • Tamago Sando with Mimolette cheese • Large salad: Green mix, orange, beets, onion vinaigrette (This is a side dish version.) • Yuzu lemonade Instagram: @ohayocafemtlView more
View more
