Maintenant, O.NOIR, le tout premier restaurant au Canada qui vous invite à vivre l'expérience d'une bonne table et de conversations agréables comme jamais auparavant DANS LE NOIR! Il s’agit d’une expérience culinaire sensuelle entièrement unique! Lorsqu’on mange sans voir, nos autres sens s’intensifient pour savourer l’arôme et le goût de la nourriture. Dans l’obscurité, les aliments prennent une saveur culinaire exceptionnelle. O.NOIR va plus loin que seulement stimuler l’imagination et les sens. Après avoir passé quelques heures dans la noirceur totale (oui, vous avez bien lu… aucune lampe de poche, bougie, allumette ou montre lumineuse, aucun téléphone cellulaire ou briquet), les clients comprennent mieux ce que c’est que vivre avec la cécité, tout comme le personnel de service du restaurant. Une expérience incroyable. C'est vraiment dans le noir total. J'ai adoré l'idée d'avoir des entrées, plats principaux & desserts surprise. La nouriture est délicieuse. Notre serveur, Dominic, a été apprécié de tout notre groupe. Définitivement une expérience à vivre.

We had an amazing time at O'Noir. The experience was very unique & humbling. Our food was excellent & our waiter (Mazen) was really spectacular. Two people in our party of 5 ordered'surprise' meals & were very happy with the dishes. At first, it is a little jarring but we enjoyed the opportunity to experience something new & different. An added bonus of not being able to see anything allowed us all to focus on conversation, good company, & food. It was the highlight of our Montreal trip.

I had mixed feelings about my experience at O.Noir.
The service at the beginning was excellent, & the concept itself is very unique & interesting. Dining in complete darkness is truly an experience. However, once seated, the atmosphere changed significantly due to very large groups being extremely loud. There was yelling, constant laughter, & disruptive behavior, to the point where other guests were asking them to be quiet. One woman even took out her phone repeatedly to take pictures of her food, which completely broke the immersion.
I understand that when someone loses their sight, they may naturally compensate by speaking louder, but I strongly feel that guests should be reminded to keep their voices at a reasonable level. I also think limiting table sizes to no more than four people would greatly improve the experience-large groups really take away from the calm & immersive atmosphere. The noise became so overwhelming that we rushed through our meal just to leave, & I ended up with a migraine.
As for the food, it was mediocre overall. While it is impressive that the chefs are visually impaired, the execution could be improved. I ordered the beef (sirloin/flank), & it was very difficult to cut & chew in the dark. The pieces were too large, which made eating uncomfortable & even nauseating.
I would recommend doing the two-course option instead of the four-course meal. There is about a 30-minute wait between each course, which makes it a very long time to remain in complete darkness-especially when paired with excessive noise.
The concept is excellent, but the overall experience could be significantly improved with better crowd control, smaller group sizes, & clearer expectations for guest behavior.

An experience of a lifetime! Dark it is & you cannot see your hand in front of you face. Sophia our server was wonderful & food was delicious especially the surprise dessert. Your other senses will kick in especially hearing. It is not likely any louder than any other restaurant but you can hear conversations then as more people arrive it does become louder but it was not distracting to us as we enjoyed the smells & tastes of the food provided. I would highly recommend. Thank you Gabriel & Sophia for wonderful service!

J'ai profondément aimé cette expérience! Je suis venu avant tout pour l'expérience mais la nourriture était tout bonnement excellente.
Toute fois, il faut être prêt à mettre sa main dans son assiette. & pour vivre l'expérience jusqu'au bout, je vous recommandé de prendre le menu surprise !
Toute l'équipe est vraiment sympathique merci à Sofia de serre occupée de nous toute la soirée.
Le seul point négatif c'est que certains clients oublient que ce n'est pas parce qu'on ne les voit pas qu'on ne les entend pas, pas besoin d'hurler pour parler à une personne juste en face de vous..

An absolutely incredible experience! Dining in complete darkness was something unforgettable. The food was delicious, & I loved that there were the dishes a surprise ( & not listed on the menu) which made it even more exciting & mysterious. You're not only eating in the dark, but you also don't know what's on your plate! Really fun! I highly recommend choosing the surprise menu. Everyone should try a restaurant like this at least once in their life.

Sharing my experience:
PROS: the staff is very kind & I have so much respect for the visually impaired waiters that were very attentive. The food was delicious, I got the vegetarian surprise menu & was surprised with a richness of flavours & textures. The surprise drink was also very good & I loved it.
CONS: unfortunately my experience was completely ruined by the people who attended dinner at the same room, I was with a group of 30+ people & they were EXTREMELY loud to a point where the servers need to shout to find the right person to serve, it was so disrespectful & overwhelming that I had to leave before the end of the service as I could not take it anymore. Overall being confined in a dark room for 2 hours with 30+ people shouting was not at all a pleasant experience, & I do understand that this is not the restaurant's fault.
SUGGESTIONS: since we have to leave our stuff in the locker, I think having a key attached to a bracelet or something similar would be beneficial, I didn't have anywhere to place the little key & had to attach it to my necklace not to loose it in the dark.
Also for big groups, I think it would be good to organize them in a different way, for example assigning numbers to each person, that way the servers would know more easily who to serve & wouldn't need to shout, which I felt bad for them.
Another suggestion is to have some sort of button that we can press to call for the service, as I think we were left unattended for quite long, I wanted to leave the room way before I did but was waiting for assistance, then I just decided to leave on my own & find the exit in the total darkness.

Expérience incroyable, originale & enrichissante! Le personnel est vraiment sympathique, le service est rapide & la nourriture est excellente. La salle est complètement noire, c'est vraiment bien fait & pensé! Je recommande à tout le monde d'y aller une fois dans une vie!

What an incredible & unique experience! From the moment we walked in we were treated with exceptional service. From the hosts in the lounge to our amazing server, Dominic, the place knows how to make customers feel valued. The food was fantastic! Pick some surprise course, it adds a fun element & you won't be disappointed. Dining in complete darkness was surreal & a challenge, but it was such a fun experience. It also makes you feel so much empathy for those that are visually impaired. No pictures to add, but definitely check this place out.

Samy est une personne d'une extrême gentillesse, disponible & nous accompagne tout au long de notre repas.
Les plats sont d'une très bonne qualité & en quantité.
Une équipe au top, un repas au top & qui nous fait sortir de notre zone de confort.
Je recommande à toutes personnes de venir manger dans ce magnifique établissement car le concept & la qualité du repas est largement à la hauteur.

This was not just a date night. This was a whole experience. Eating in complete darkness. I was really not sure what to expect & you probably can't prepare for this. Something you just have to do. Food was awesome even though we have no idea what we ate. Would definitely make a return trip.
