In town for an event, & our group of 9 randomly decided to try Mucca since it was a few blocks away.
Great decision! We were lucky to snag a few tables for the entire group & the Owner served us directly & essentially helped us customize a meal to suit our party size & preferences. She was so engaging & helpful explaining her farm to table approach.
We literally got 1 of everything on the menu! Ribeye, tbone, & tomahawk, Tagliatelle pasta, & charcuterie board. Steaks cooked to perfection medium rare.
Had good selection of local wines. Finished if off with few desserts. The Salame Cioccolato was surprisingly good! Literally looks like a thick slab of salame but rich chocolatey firm mousse. So good.
Loved the atmosphere & how engaging & helpful the owner was even when we had questions about montreal in general.
You Must try!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mucca in Montreal, & what a delight it was. As our server graciously informed us, the menu changes every few weeks-so while our experience may not be replicated dish for dish, the artistry & care are unmistakably constant.
The ambiance is warm & inviting, with low lighting & modern décor that feels both intimate & stylish. We were seated at the bar, which, while visually elegant, lacked a footrest, leading us to improvise a solution for comfort.
Though there were no sugar-free beverage options, the bar staff excelled in their craft. My cocktail, infused with rosemary, was impeccably balanced-refreshing & sophisticated.
We ordered all five appetizers & were not disappointed. The charcuterie board featured perfectly cured meats with crispy onions. The carpaccio was fresh & flavorful, with a bold tuna-mayo sauce. The salad was light, with bright orange segments; a few more would've been welcome. The burrata with fig sauce was divine-creamy, fresh, & well-balanced. The polenta, while well-cooked, could have benefited from a more vibrant sauce.
Fresh, warm bread was served alongside, & it was simply outstanding-pillowy inside with a perfect crust.
For the main course, we enjoyed the Strascinati di Cascia-house-made pasta with sausage & a rich, satisfying sauce. A rustic dish executed with elegance.
We then sampled every dessert. The apple strudel gelato & mint lemon gelato were fresh & bright. The citrus tiramisu was inventive & refreshing. The risotto cake with amaretto crumble was a hit at our table, & while the chocolate sausage wasn't quite to my taste, it was certainly unique.
Despite being busy, the staff were attentive & gracious throughout. Their poise & professionalism matched the caliber of the food.
In short: Mucca offers a dynamic, evolving menu with beautifully prepared dishes, thoughtful service, & an atmosphere perfect for a memorable evening. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Montreal.
Went with a large group & had to take the tasting menu.
Pros: food was really good & high quality. Beautiful restaurant.
Cons: literally splitting hairs so that everyone got to try the dishes. A fork's worth of pasta. A half spoon of risotto..couple pieces of meat. Dessert somehow even more so, as they brought out even less at that stage. cutting a slice of chocolate salami in to tiny little pieces was embarrassing. Not everyone got to sample the tiramisu. First experience with a tasting menu where they were literal. You just get to TASTE it. Better off charging more & making sure your clients leave satisfied. Disappointing.
A gem in Little Italy: Bold, seasonal, delicious food on a regularly changing menu, with exceptional service.
The menu is inspired, from the creative small plates (anchovy ricotta! Haskap compote!), the tender housemade pastas, & the incredible desserts (the lemon tiramisu & housemade gelatos are a must). Every time I visit, the menu is different, but the quality & inspiration remains consistent.
Then there's the beef, where this small restaurant in Little Italy is one of the few in Montreal to sell steaks by breed as well as cut (not to mention that they're dry-aged in house). The steaks are cooked to perfection, tender, & deeply flavourful.
Karine is a ray of sunshine, running front of house, drinks, & who I've run into buying crates of sea urchin at the Jean-Talon Market.
They manage to do it all. I cannot recommend Mucca more.

After 3 years of dining here, Mucca remains my go-to when people ask me to recommend:
-'the best steak & a wine list to match'
-'the best pasta'
-'a cute spot for date night'
-'somewhere to take my parents for their birthday where it should feel fancy without being stodgy & make them feel special'
-'dinner with a few coworkers'
Restaurant accueillant, ambiance chaleureuse & personnel attentif. Viande tendre & bien cuite accompagnée d'une bonne purée de patate. Le dessert a dépassé mes expectatives, gelato inoubliable!
Amazing restaurant! Their food, the customer service & their dessert was amazing! We had to order more bread because it was so good & home made!! I went for my fiancé's birthday & they did not disappoint! I recommend their restaurant to anyone wanting good food & a delicious espresso martini!
Super bon repas!
I was kind of surprised with the high ratings of this restaurant. The overall experience was average. We took the dégustation menu, the chef's recommendation. The starters were ok, not exquisite, the pasta was really bad, just plain, but the meat was good: we picked the porterhouse, it was very good & tender. The desserts were good. So basically i would only recommend the meat there, but then again I've also had better in Montreal.
First time at this restaurant. We had the tasting menu & the food was fantastic, especially the rib steak, carpaccio & desserts. Service was very attentive & the pacing of food was perfect 👌. Would definitely return as this was a memorable experience!
Was really excited to like the place, has been on my list for a while. Good vibe on coming in, nice waiter, but the owner firmly (but politely) refused a pretty easy ask to let 3/5 of us order the tasting menu, & order a la carte for our vegetarian & pregnant friends. She admitted that there was no problem for 3 people to order a tasting menu "but you booked for 5, so you can't sneak it that way." Her restaurant, her rules... but you don't get service points for arbitrarily limiting customers from what they want. We followed the owner's recommendations on ordering, but 4/5 of us left quite hungry, even after adding an extra dish. The appetizers were very good: original & sizeable zucchini flowers, a nice salad, textbook burrata. The steaks were both well cooked but heavily over-peppered; & the pastas the waiter recommended we double up on were totally bland. We left most of them, & we mentioned to the owner that this dish wasn't terribly good; she said okay but charged us for it. Also okay, fair enough, but again, you don't get service points for that. The cocktails were solid, the two bottles of wine were both good - we got solid advice there. Again - just too bad we left with a bad taste in our mouth. Could have easily been a great night. We went next door for dessert.
Le Porterhouse est incroyable, ça fond dans la bouche, les drinks très goûteux, les desserts sont malades, le Tiramisu est wow!
Food was very tasty & flavorful but they oblige a fixed menu if you are 6 people or more & it left everyone hungry because portions were small. One burrata divided in 6 was barely a bite each . Same for the pasta dishes & desserts . For the price , it wasn't enough food to share .
Bel endroit, calme & joli, service agréable. Le dessert du moment fut une belle découverte !
Fantastic! Came with my mom for dinner & ordered the meat platter for two, it came with two sides mashed potatoes & a salad (I think its kale) it was absolutely delicious! We also had a burrata as an appetizer very yummy.
We had dessert, a light but tasty lemon tiramisu, the perfect ending! The service was incredible, we had two very nice servers. I recommend this place. I want to come back & try other dishes, their menu changes every week!
Our second time visiting your place & all was incredible! We had the citrus tiramisu, by far the best restaurant dessert we've ever had! Thank you for making our evening special, Natasha & Rodion
Nice date night spot in Little Italy. Menus are seasonal & change every couple of weeks based on available ingredients. Before going, check their menu online to see what they’re offering.
My partner & I ordered the tasting menu at 78pp which gave you a smattering of items available on their menu that day, including two appetizers, one pasta, one meat, & two desserts. Their appetizers (green bean salad + beef carpaccio) & pasta (white cream tube pasta) was absolutely amazing as well as the sides that came with the meat (mashed potato’s & chard), although parts of the meat came out either a bit chewy, a bit tough, or the rosemary overpowered the dry age.
While portion sizes were smaller than if you were to order the dishes separately, we preferred this option because the amount of food that came out was just right. (If you care more about the volume, would maybe recommend ordering the foods separately)
All in all this was a very solid meal. Food came out quickly & service was excellent & friendly! (Keep in mind we came a bit on the earlier side. I can imagine when it gets busy, it may be hard for the 1-2 people in the front to be at your every beck & call. Temper expectations & focus on enjoying your food!)
Last Thursday, my client & I decided to dine at this establishment hoping for a relaxed & enjoyable evening. We walked in at about 8:30 pm & were surprised to find the restaurant almost desserted with only three other tables occupied. Little did we know, our anticipation was soon to be marred by a series of disappointing events & a Grinch (the owner). Although the food quality was commendable, our overall experience was overwhelmingly tarnished by the shockingly poor service of the owner. We were left waiting for nearly 30 minutes before our orders were taken, which was surprising given the sparse crowd. We opted for the tasting menu - the most premium offering on their menu - leading to a clutter of dishes on our diminutive table. In an attempt to create a bit more space & since the owner wasn't in the front for the last 10 mins, we decided to combine our table with an adjacent one. We thought it a harmless act, aimed at making our meal more comfortable without causing any inconvenience. But we were taken aback when the owner, Karine, confronted us, 10 mins later, expressing extreme displeasure at our initiative. Despite our immediate apologies & explanation for our actions, she continued to berate us. Hoping to salvage the situation, we decided to persist, putting our faith in the restaurant's culinary reputation. But to our dismay, Karine later moved the extra table without a word of explanation. When we courteously requested her to let us use the extra table given the lack of customers & the amount of dishes ordered, she vehemently & disrespectfully refused, stating her reluctance to encourage customers to use more space than designated. It was at this point that we decided to leave. The condescending attitude of the management completely extinguished our appetite. We paid for the dishes we had been served & departed, vowing never to return. It's regrettable that our experience was so negative, & perhaps provides some insight as to why the restaurant was nearly empty on a Thursday night. The most regrettable aspect of this encounter is that it wasn't my first visit to this restaurant. Just three weeks prior, I had brought a group of six friends & we had collectively spent $1000. What's more, the friends I brought along had a personal connection to the owner through a family member, who was a regular there. I was anticipating this connection would pave the way for a warm & friendly rapport, & was considering this place for frequent get-togethers. Unfortunately, the distressing episode has quashed such hopes. The unfortunate truth is that the restaurant has not just lost a potential repeat customer, but also the prospect of consistent business brought by a wider circle of acquaintances. An establishment's success isn't only about the quality of food, but equally about the hospitality & service extended to customers. The management should understand this before it's too late, for no restaurant can thrive on good food alone.
Service chaleureux, une présentation impeccable, & une viande exceptionnelle.
Nous reviendrons !
Au moins pour le dessert ;)
There is a reason why the reviews have nothing less than a 5 star rating!! It is not often I feel the need to review, but it has been quite a while since I have been floored by the overall experience from a restaurant. The tasting menu is an absolute must; you truly get your money's worth. Being a group of 5 we were treated to a sampling of almost everything on their menu & everything was simply amazing. The burrata with the ground cherry jam was "lick your plate" that good. The beef tartare was fresh & better with each bite. The homemade pasta choices were each innovative & delectable... we needed to ask for more bread to scoop up all the sauce! Next came the 3 choices of meat & the moooo in Mucca really showed itself. The platters of meat were out of this world delicious & cooked to perfection. Even the side of greens & mashed potatoes were simply devine infused with garlic & herbs. At this point we were stuffed to the rim & couldn't imagine dessert being even better. The lemon tiramisu was absolutely everything (& this coming from someone who usually doesn't like citrus desserts & knows a good tiramisu when she sees one). The gelato flavours were apple pie & mojito reincarnated. & the ricotta cheesecake was delicate & so fluffy. If the food wasn't enough, the service & ambience were also top notch quality. After every serving, all cutlery & plates were replaced & our glasses were never emptied.. the attention to detail did not go unnoticed; these people know how to deliver an experience. The music they had going was every best song I wanted to hear & I really need their playlist now! The owner was a true delight & you can tell that this is her passion; serving & doing food exceptionally well without it being pretentious. We will definitely be back!
From the moment you step into this fine eatery the staff & owner make you feel welcomed & appreciated. Mucca is in a class of it's own for the quality & originality of all that is served, from entrees to desserts, a must if craving meats.
