I came in for a goat roti & it was soooo salty & tasted like it's been in the fridge for a week. At the prices you pay it should be fresh! I'm done with this place
The best jerk chicken roti my bf & I have ever had. We also tried the oxtail patty, which was also delicious. Highly recommend 😊
Fantastic. I can't believe it took me this long to find this place.
The jerk chicken roti was absolutely perfect but the ackee & saltfish egg rolls were the big treat.
Nice staff.
They share a location with a bagel shop so it's an easy stop.
Oxtail Stuffed Patty was delish so well-seasoned 5 stars now for the chicken & goat roti was packed with meat BUT tasted very plain jane ?? what happened to herbs & seasoning & some heat ???
I tried the chicken roti & it was delicious 😋 Will definitely go again
I had friends visiting from out of town last night, so I decided to pick up some goat & chicken rôties. The verdict? Absolutely delicious! Both dishes were bursting with flavor, perfectly seasoned, & the portions were generous.
Had MTL Yardie on my list of places to visit & let me tell you, they did not disappoint.
The place is spotless. Was greeted with a warm welcome from the owner as I walked in. He has a real great operation going on in the back, I must give a big shoutout to the people behind the scenes because everything was fantastic!
The main reason coming here was to try the Patty stuffed with oxtails. The Patty was really good & stuffed fully with oxtails. The meat was tender & full of flavour. I definitely would recommend.
The goat roti was also delicious & packed with a good ratio of meat & potatoes. The curry flavour was present but I find could of used a better curry & pepper.(our preference) I understand you have to'turn it down to accommodate everyone'
The jerk chicken was cooked beautifully & was tender. Will say, I wonder if it is cooked on the grill but still really good.
I definitely would recommend their home made juices. The sorrel had a nice kick I. The back of my throat. Fruit punch is also really nice!!
Everything was delicious & pipping hot!!! Definitely would recommend & will be back!!
Give em' a try families!!!
Tell em' Jay sent ya!!
We seen all of the social media posts, & we were disappointed, we had it to go,they forgot the plantain, the roti chicken was not the best, the only star was the stuff patties.
MTL YARDIE is my go-to spot for authentic Caribbean-Jamaican food whenever I'm craving some bold flavour. The dishes are always freshly prepared, & the owner & staff are incredibly friendly & welcoming. My go to is Mixed Plate, Chicken Roti, Ackee & Salt Fish with fried dumplings. The restaurant is always clean & inviting. Highly recommend!
I ordered the Veggie Roti, the Jerk patties as well as the oxtail plate. First of all, coming from a West Indian background, I was satisfied with the taste of the Jerk Patty. The Roti was too soggy but the thing that really was not satisfying was the oxtail plate. The taste was very good, HOWEVER we all know oxtail has a lot of bone but paying 25$ for only bone & not any type of meat is crazy. Blah blah the cost of living is high but it was ridiculous. All I had was bone & the customer service was not great. If they are charging these types of prices, give people what they paid for. Just because we are not'influencers' doesn't mean we aren't entitled to proper portioning. Overall I may go back for the patties but that's it
This pumpkin soup & chicken roti, took me straight back home. So good. Best Jamaican spot in Montreal
MTL Yardie somehow showed up on ny Instagram & for weeks I have been wanting to try it. I drove from the South Shore (traffic & all) & was not disappointed. I ordered the chicken curry rotie & the macaroni pie. My initial thought was that it was very pricey however the portions were large enough for 2 people or leftovers for another day. The chicken rotie was amazing! The macaroni pie could use a bit of seasoning but definitely didn't stop me from eating it. Haha! I will most definitely go back & recommend to others. If i had to find a negative, the only thing i could say (at least for now) is that they do not offer'breast only' options. I was hoping to try the stewed chicken & jerk chicken however I could not order just the breast meat. I had no choice but go with the rotie (it was still fantastic).
My boyfriend & I love this place! When we first got to Montreal we were eating here 3 times a week 😂 put on a little weight… none the less. Great food & great hospitality. Love the roti, huge servings with the fried chicken & the pineapple lemonade he gave us was amazing too. Thank you!!
I've been here a few times to try different items from their menu. First time, the wait took about 20 mins to receive my order but the woman was very friendly so it wasn't a problem. Roti skin was decent but the curry wasn't the best & lacked some seasonings. Also, wayyy too much potato & barely any meat. Doesn't allow you to get the full potential of the meat itself. The size of the roti is about half the size that you get at other Caribbean restos for about the same price. It's like a mini roti lol. Second time, I placed my order beforehand & picked it up. Upon arriving, the owner was busy chatting so i waited. He saw me when i walked in but continued chatting. I stood at the counter & waited almost 15 mins before getting acknowledged. During the wait time, I was looking for another employee to just hand me my order that was paid for, ready & sitting there but they were busy filling stock. The owner only acknowledged me because I turned to leave. At that point, I have to admit that I didn't appreciate his attitude or dirty look but was happy to get my order & get out of there! All in all, service is a hit or miss, 50/50 chance of getting good service & the rotis are mostly filled with potato & little meat. Would give the roti a solid 6/10. Would buy again if I was really craving it but otherwise, there are better rotis at other, more authentic Caribbean restaurants. Overhyped on social media & lack of taste isn't not worth the hype or price.
Read some of the reviews & hope the response isn't that I have bad taste buds 😂😭 hope you guys step your kitchen game up & fix your service issue because I'd definitely give it another try. Otherwise, not too sure…
Food is fabulous. I haven't tried a single thing that wasn't packed with flavour & cooked to perfection. I've visited a few times & the jerk chicken roti (jerk chicken, period) & the lobster soup were my favourites so far. I would also like to say that the friendly & caring service makes the experience that much better. I will be a repeat customer for life!
