About

Montreal Paella focuses on the preparation of traditional Spanish rice dishes and an extensive selection of small plates. The menu centers on large-format pans featuring saffron-infused bomba rice combined with proteins like chorizo, shrimp, mussels, and chicken. Patrons encounter a setting dedicated to shared culinary experiences where tapas highlight regional ingredients such as piquillo peppers, manchego cheese, and marinated olives. The kitchen utilizes authentic techniques to achieve the signature caramelized socarrat crust on the base of every paella pan. Each dish emphasizes the bold, rustic flavor profiles characteristic of Iberian cooking traditions. The interior provides an environment suited for communal consumption of these classic Mediterranean offerings while maintaining a focus on consistent execution of standard regional recipes. This establishment prioritizes the technical accuracy of its rice preparations and the variety of its small-plate offerings for all diners.

Review Summary

Montreal Paella is widely celebrated as an authentic Spanish gem that transports diners straight to Spain with its exceptional quality and traditional flavors. The restaurant is consistently praised for its delicious and fresh dishes, particularly the diverse paella options, tapas, and house made desserts like the Basque cheesecake. While a few patrons noted longer wait times for paella or occasional service inconsistencies, the vast majority of visitors highlight the welcoming atmosphere, professional staff, and accommodating approach to dietary restrictions such as gluten intolerance. Whether dining in for a cozy experience or ordering online, guests frequently describe the food as a spectacular, heartfelt culinary journey that represents some of the best Spanish cuisine available in the city.

If you want to have an excellent Spanish experience, this is the place. The food, the service, the music, everything was really good. The best: the bunuelos de bacalao. Thank you Mario for your amazing service, & suggestions.

This is real paella (& I'm Spanish). Do not sleep on the black rice as well. The service provided by Mario was also impeccable. I truly recommend this place.

I waited for 40 minutes & no service, everything looked fine & even the server was nice but I think is the fact that there was only one server for the whole restaurant. Maybe the food is good & the service fine but don't got to experience any of that in the 40 minutes waiting in the table without service

The seafoot paella was tasty & good but the chicken & mushroom paella was salty & dry. Besides that, service was good & reasonably fast. Have to consider that the food has to be prepared & baked. Watch out for the steel handles for the paella, extremely hot.

This has been the best paella experience outside Spain. Also the bread with tomatoes. They have special bread baked for this & it is amazing. We felt like in Spain ; the food was awesome also the hospitality of Elena who served us with passion. It is the first time but not the last time. It was so kind of the owner/chef Mariano to come to our table & inquire about our experience. He is so passionate about his job. Great to have businessmen like this. Thank you! 👏🧿
