Modavie is a timeless place that brings us back to our roots, where ladies & gents gather and eat in a lively atmosphere caused by great conversation, live music and the wooden scents of a vintage room. Born in 1997, it quickly became popular among locals & visitors, and is now considered a Montreal institution.
Treat yourself to refined French fare in an antique & dimmed corner locale spawning two floors. From the classic beef tartare, to tasty sweetbread, to the famous ratatouille, your cravings will be easily satiated.

Tyler was an amazing waiter, he gave me amazing recommendations for the food & drinks. Music was great as well. Would definitely come again!View more
Great atmosphere, music, service & food! I have celiac disease & the servers were all very attentive & explained all the gluten free options. They offer GF pasta & can make most of their dishes gluten free! Overall modavie had a great vibe & is right in the heart of old montreal for the perfect dinner spot.View more
Excellent ambience with live jazz music & food was bit expensive & taste was average. Enjoyed the vibe!View more
Live music, perfect lamb, excellent cream brûlée & fantastic service.View more
Nice atmosphere, included live music. The drinks were delicious. The bone marrow was unimpressive. The French onion soup was terrific!!! Mushroom risotto has WAY to much cheese sauce compared to the rice. The rice was swimming in the cheese sauce. I would try again.View more
I really chose this place because they offered live music which didn't disappoint. You really enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant. The food was delicious. We had the escargot since we wanted to have a French Canadian food experience. The truffle fries were delicious. I also had the rack of lamb, which was good. The drinks were also really good, but we are too full to have dessert which I guess I'll have to come back for at some point when I'm in Montreal again. The staff were absolutely lovely & it was just an overall great evening.View more
Had a very good experience here. The Live Music is awesome.View more
We went there on saturday evening. There was a live band which was cool & good music. However the service could be better. You shouldn't have to ask the waitress for water. Its looks like I had to beg for water & she didn't ask if food was ok. I didn't feel a warmth in her service. The type of vibe "I have to do my job & serve them".
I've ordered linguine seafood. Quality was good & tasty but it was overly small & very pricey,
as well as for the drinks I thought it would be a bigger plate for the price. They didn't serve any bread which is a minus.
So if you are really hungry & you're not ready to spend hundreds of dollars don't come here.View more
Modavie is a true standout, even in the heart of Montreal's bustling tourist district! Despite its location, it feels like a hidden gem with exceptional food, warm service, & an unbeatable atmosphere. The food was absolutely amazing-every dish was perfectly prepared & bursting with flavor. Our server was incredibly friendly & attentive, making us feel right at home & enhancing our overall experience. The live jazz music was a highlight & added a touch of elegance to the evening. It's clear the musicians were incredibly talented, & we truly appreciated the ambiance they created. The only downside was the noise from some of the other clients. They were quite loud & didn't seem to appreciate the beautiful music as much as we did. However, that didn't stop us from enjoying the experience. If you're looking for great food, excellent service, & live jazz in Montreal, Modavie is absolutely worth a visit!View more
Such a great place. Great service from our waiter Renault. Everyone in our party loved there meal. We went on a Saturday & the live music was excellent. Busy place but quick attentive service. Did not wait long for our food.View more
After 6 visits brunch, dinner, drinks, I haven't had a bad experience. For a restaurant that has every right to be pretentious they go out of their way to be the opposite. Not to mention the incredible live music.View more
This might be my favorite restaurant in the world. The food alone makes this five stars. I've had the mushroom risotto topped with braised lamb, linguini with duck confit, & the lamb chops. All were excellent. Great wine selection. Chocolate mousse pyramid for dessert was amazing. The live music is the best I've ever seen while dining. Each time we visited Modavie, we saw GL Chambers & Band who perform a soulful mix of rock & blues. They are so talented & play with such a warm spirit. The music brings Modavie from a five star restaurant to a special must-visit destination.View more

Dined at Mondavie, while visiting Montreal. It was easy to make reservations & conveniently located near my hotel. My server, Yann, was friendly & attentive, & made wonderful recommendations. I enjoyed Lamb Chops as the main course. The food, service & music were great, I will definitely return.View more
My boyfriend & I loved this restaurant. Their drinks were really creative & delicious. They were also reasonably priced. We had the French onion soup & snails as an appetizer, & then tried the duck & the lamb for our mains. Everything was delicious & fresh. I had the raspberry sorbet as a dessert & my boyfriend had a chocolate mousse cake. The service was good & our server even took the time to write a list of other restaurants he recommended in downtown & old Montreal for us to visit during our trip. The restaurant was very cosy & they even had live music playing. It wasn't too loud & we would highly recommend this place for your next date spot.View more
We came here for the Christmas Eve prie fixe meal so can only speak to that. The place itself is wonderful & charming. Service was top notch. They had lovely live music. Drinks were excellent. The food however did not come close to expectations, especially at the $140 CD a person. We ordered three filet mignons at medium rare. One was medium, one was medium rare, & one was just seared & so raw I thought it was seared tuna. The duck was so dry & flavorless you could use it as a dog toy. The scallops were cold, very dry, & chewy. Not sure what they were going for there, maybe scallop jerky. The manager did come by & was very apologetic & took some items off the bill. But any restaurant shooting for high end dining at $140 a head, they need to deliver & delight.View more

All I can say is incredible place. The food is immaculate. The Best French onion soup I've ever had. Their Lamb Rack was pure perfection. Ambiance was pleasant. Music was great, & also.. Had the pleasure of seeing a certain celeb from the Jacka** series enjoy the place! I'f you're newly local or visiting, you have to take the time to treat yourself to this fine digs. Service is prompt, polite, & also down to earth. You will not be disappointed.View more
Great atmosphere with love music & kind staff. The set menu was great & filling. Specifically liked the duck confit, escargot & the chocolate pyramid. We also got the seafood pasta which was honestly disappointing.View more
Great service, great music, & good food. All at a reasonable price. I'd go back anytime. Thank you!!View more
Lovely place for date night! We went for a girls dinner as we were visiting for The Weeknd. The team is so accommodating & the food was delicious. We got the lamb shank as they're known for it. Sooooo good. Also the cheesecake was 10/10- The jazz bands adds something special upstairs. Make sure to request to sit near the music because the restaurant is big.View more
My girlfriend & I walked past Modavie & saw the menu outside & we were impressed. Buddy our server was very professional & attentive. He gave us a nice description of all the special items. We ordered the Snails & scallops to start & they were delicious. For the second course, we got Duck Confit & the Lamb rack & it was top tier. The cocktail Red Velvet is highly recommended. There was live music. Felt very romantic. If I ever get to go back to Montreal, I will be visiting Modavie every time I am in town. The pre fix menu is also good if you want to try different items on the menu.View more
We recently dined at Modavie & had an unforgettable experience. The lamb shank was absolutely amazing-tender, flavorful, & cooked to perfection. Our server, Alvin, went above & beyond to accommodate a gluten allergy, ensuring a safe & enjoyable meal. His attentiveness & support truly enhanced our dining experience. The atmosphere at Modavie is warm & inviting, with the added charm of live music that set the perfect tone for the evening. We felt welcomed & relaxed throughout our visit. Highly recommend Modavie for anyone looking for a delightful dining experience in Montreal!View more
