Hello, I was at your restaurant last evening & what an amazing experience because of Sal. We were going to be seating at a table but he said no sit at the bar & he didn't disappoint us. Had supper & drinks with friends on Saturday night during the F1 events. We sat at the bar & were very pleased with the attention & service we received. The bartender, Sal, did a fantastic job. He made excellent recommendations regarding food & his cocktails were amazing. The life band was playing at the same time, so we had an added benefit of life music during our visit. We will definitely come back there again.View more

Possibly the best restaurant experience we have had. We visited while on vacation in Old Montreal & we were lucky enough to be there for a live blues band. We had the garlic snails as an appetizer & freshly baked warm rolls were brought to the table as well. The Lamp Chops were out of this world as was my wifes Filet Mignon. That was followed by a crazy good creme brulee. The drinks were professionally made as well & were exceptional. On top of all this the server named Rad was no less than perfect. Friendly, knowledgeable & went out of his way to ensure we were enjoying ourselves throughout the night. He also allowed us all the time we wanted for a nice meal & music. One of our favorite places in Montreal & some of the best food hands down. We went twice & both times had the lamb pasta because it was THAT good - we also had the steak frites, French onion soup, Caesar salad, crème brûlée, & seasonal sorbet - all excellent as well & the drinks were very good. Very cute atmosphere with live music at night. Staff were so friendly & welcoming - we went to maybe 12-15 restaurants throughout our trip & none came close to Modavie.View more

My friend & I decided to have dinner at this place due to the high ratings on Google. Now, after analyzing all the reviews, I realized they must be fake, since some of the images are repetitive. Everyone was raving about the food! First, the good things - the service was indeed excellent; our server was attentive & timely, & the hostess was accommodating, seating us upstairs so we could be a part of a jazz performance. We sat down & ordered our drinks, which were great! Then, we ordered bone marrow, foie gras, & scallops as appetizers. All of them were warm & tasted mediocre. Particularly, the foie gras came on top of a piece of bread, which was soaking through in fat. I understand that foie gras is very fatty, yet I was expecting the bread to provide a balancing bite, but it was so overpowering, I could not eat it. For the main course, we ordered lamb, which was highly recommended by other diners on Google (turns out they were fake reviews), & fries. The fries were soggy, & the lamb dish came out cold with all the soggy, sad-looking vegetables. I just could not eat it & asked our server to reheat it, which he did & I ate it afterwards. Initially, we wanted to have dessert, but after such a terrible food experience, we couldn't wait to go somewhere else instead! I don't know, maybe they were busy, & we had bad luck, yet the entire restaurant wasn't full. We won't be returning!View more

The vibes here were amazing, super elegant yet homey & cozy. Everyday they have an accompaniment for music & the day we went had jazz playing while we were eating. The apps (escargot & soup) were 🤌- both were not your standard snails or french onion soup. The soup had an extremely rich flavour shine through that came from the deep caramelization of the onions. The accompanying garlic butter & cheese that was paired with the escargot was salty which was good. Onto the mains, the table favourite was the duck confit. The duck was so tender & when paired with the sweetness of the walnuts & the acid from the pickled cabbage, it made a wonderful bite. The lamb chops were great as well, the meat was cooked to our liking. We do wish there was a sauce to accompany the lamb, perhaps a sweet red wine sauce to cut through the saltiness of the veggies & enhance the lamb taste. As an aside, the potatoes were delicious LOL. The lamb pasta was amazing as well, flavour-wise. We wish there would have been more lamb in the pasta as the portion of meat felt lacklustre. The pasta was perfectly cooked & held onto the sauce very well. Lastly, the drinks were delicious- perfectly balanced between sweet & tangy. The service here was phenomenal, they consistently checked up on us & made sure we were well taken care of. Overall, the restaurant was a great experience in MTL, a good place to go to if you're in the area & are looking for a more expensive dinner.View more

We came to MODAVIE for brunch. We were a large group so, we reserved a table. From the moment we arrived, the staff were very friendly & professional. We ordered hot drinks, cocktails & a full course of dishes. The food was delicious & the cocktails were great! There was a live jazz band playing so, we couldn't really ask for more.View more

Jazx blues music was good but a bit loud. Heat was cranked up in our area & it was too hot. Washrooms had 2 stalls & were very small & in basement. Not accessible.View more

First night ever in Montreal & as luck would have it we stumbled into this great place! George, our server, was awesome! He took great care of us & happily attended to all our needs. He even hand wrote a list of places to see while in Montreal. Hubert, the bartender was also awesome! He also took great care of us! A great conversationalist who made great drinks! He also wrote down some places to go to. The manager, I believe her name was Jane, was great. I cannot recommend this place enough! Oh, & by the way, the food was great!View more

I wish there was a 10 star rating. This place exceeded our expectations by far. The service, the drinks, the food, the entertainment were all amazing. Our bartender Sal made the best dirty martini. Lorenzo...well he took care of us like we were family! We dined upstairs & Tyler was our server. Again...another top notch employee of Modavie. I had the signature rack of lamb & it didn't disappoint. Delicious! My friends had the filet mignon & salmon. All raved about their food. Look no further for a memorable dinner in old Montreal! this restaurant had amazing food, drinks, & live music. the band was extremely lively & people were dancing & event a customer sang a couple songs with the band! the food was great & the price made sense. I was there last night & our waiter was attentive & didn’t come to our table every few mins. he payed attention to us & came to ask us questions at perfect moments (great if you want to have a sort of intimate dinner experience). the only thing i really hated about the restaurant was the hostess. as a past hostess of many different restaurants, the hostess attitude was incredibly surprising. she sat us at a table that had this sort of beam that covered the view of the band in the MDR. i asked her if we can change tables & put us in the middle so we can have the full experience & she then put us at the end of the room in a corner. she just threw the menus & walked away. i was shocked that a hostess for a high end restaurant would even work there. not only that but i called a few hours before our reso to ask if they did anything for special occasions & after i told her what the dinner was for, she didn’t answer my question & just hung up. management needs to have a talk with their hosts.View more

Came here to drink some wine. Sat at the bar with some friends, & the bartender was VERY helpful with identifying a few bottles for us to pop & enjoy, & we got a charcuterie & cheese board as well.

Yes, we probably overpaid for the wine given the location, but the experience was well worth it.View more

We visited in the summer. Lovely restaurant in the Old Port, a place I totally love. We had basque chicken, lamb pappardelle, but the most unforgettable dish was a bone marrow appetizer. My heavens. I love, love bone marrow, grew up eating a lot of it. This was the best prepared I’ve had yet. The drinks were wonderful. The jazz was great!View more
