We opened our first cafe in 2013 with the mission of offering specialty coffee in a warm and inclusive environment.
During our expansion, we quickly understood that as a company, our central commitment was to our employees. It is with them and thanks to them that everything else is possible.
Overall, MELK Café is described as a cozy inviting spot with strong coffee and a reputation for tasty home style snacks and fresh scones. Reviewers praise drinks like dulce de leche latte, lavender latte, chai and matcha, and note excellent latte art and quick friendly service in many visits. The pastry selection gets frequent praise with many loving the variety of scones such as everything bagel with cream cheese, lemon cherry and chocolate blueberry, though some say they can sell out early. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable and good for studying or working, but seating is limited and the space can feel crowded and noisy during busy times. Service quality is mixed in a few cases, and a few comments mention a prompt for tipping at payment and occasional lapses in attentiveness. A handful of critiques point to milder or flat coffee profiles and higher prices, yet many call MELK Café among the best in Montreal and a worthwhile visit for those seeking good coffee and standout baked goods.
Their matcha lattes & chai lattes are wonderful! The staff is really kind too & they actually listen to their clients. The place is a little tight but it "works" & goes with the overall vibe.

I really wanted a good cup of latte during my visit to Montreal & I'm so glad I dropped by here - the scones aren't too sweet (which is what I like) & it pairs so well with their delicious latte.
The everything scone was really nice. The 3 chocolate hot chocolate was also very tasty. The only thing that was not a 5 out of 5 was the straight espresso. I prefer lighter, more acidic & fruit espresso. This was darker & more bitter. Not bad, just not to my preference.
The scones! One of the most unique & tastiest scones I've ever had. It is more buttery, with a denser muffin like texture on the center. Then they have sugar crystals on the top to provide a really nice crunch! I ordered the banana & milk chocolate bread & you could still taste the notes of both behind the butteriness. I also ordered a decaf soy milk latte. The decaf was processed without chemicals & is organic. It's so good. Just the location is a bit small & not where expected. But I It adds to the uniqueness of the place.
The scones were a really interesting find; not too sweet with an epic crust that dunks beautifully into coffee. One of the better coffees I've had from the quirky coffee shops around. Service was good but this is rather more a grab & go place because the chairs are not very comfy.
Absolutely love the decaf beans, though I could tell that everyone else was enjoying their caffeinated drinks. Friendly staff. Highly recommend this place.
We ordered a latte (very good), iced chai latte (just ok), cheddar scone (a little old), & lavender lemon cookie (delicious!!). Nice staff & fast enough service. Cute little cafe!!
