We opened our first cafe in 2013 with the mission of offering specialty coffee in a warm and inclusive environment.
During our expansion, we quickly understood that as a company, our central commitment was to our employees. It is with them and thanks to them that everything else is possible.
Overall, MELK Café is described as a cozy inviting spot with strong coffee and a reputation for tasty home style snacks and fresh scones. Reviewers praise drinks like dulce de leche latte, lavender latte, chai and matcha, and note excellent latte art and quick friendly service in many visits. The pastry selection gets frequent praise with many loving the variety of scones such as everything bagel with cream cheese, lemon cherry and chocolate blueberry, though some say they can sell out early. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable and good for studying or working, but seating is limited and the space can feel crowded and noisy during busy times. Service quality is mixed in a few cases, and a few comments mention a prompt for tipping at payment and occasional lapses in attentiveness. A handful of critiques point to milder or flat coffee profiles and higher prices, yet many call MELK Café among the best in Montreal and a worthwhile visit for those seeking good coffee and standout baked goods.
I ordered a flat white. The coffee art was excellent, the service was excellent, but the coffee tasted like nothing, mostly milk. I also thought it was expensive for what it was. I've had cheaper flat whites in other places & they tasted much better. I know it's my personal taste but well... I wouldn't come back. Plus the coffee shop is tiny & not very comfortable to stay in.
Very cute shop; went for the scones! They were fine; moist & well made but perhaps lacking in a flavour oomph (especially for the apple scone). The lattes, though, were excellent! There were only two flavours & the shop was busy. Go early!
A cute little shop, nice to have a quick grab. The store is pretty small so it took a while to get the drink & not too many seats. I do like my ice latte. 🙂
Coffee was okey little over extracted at the time maybe because it was quite early in the morning & raining... I asked to pour left over milk in a singe espresso cup for my baby & they charged me $2.50... none of coffee shops ever charged me left over milk I just needed tiny amount for baby to sip. Not whole cup of milk. She said she understood what I needed but still cost $2.50.
I always like going to Melk when in Montreal. A small shop that allows for limited seating has a cozy vibe. My go to is the matcha latte & all the snacks are delicious. I recommend going if you need a little pit stop from the crowds on St. Catherine.
Average coffee shop with accommodating seating, quick service & reasonable prices. The baked goods were not particularly good & were rather dry & the drinks not very sweet against personal preference. There are double doors for entry & a few ledges to get in.
One of the best matcha's I've tasted in Montreal! The warm matcha with oat milk is very smooth, earthy & slightly sweet. For some reason, the iced version doesn't taste as good & as such, wouldn't recommend it. Very cute coffee shop, perfect for catching up with friends. It's quite small but has plugs & wifi for studying.

The scones were a really interesting find; not too sweet with an epic crust that dunks beautifully into coffee. One of the better coffees I've had from the quirky coffee shops around. Service was good but this is rather more a grab & go place because the chairs are not very comfy.
Quaint coffee shop. I like to pick up whole beans for brewing at home. A little small, so you may have a hard time finding a table during peak periods.
the coffee is good the place is small but adorable the staff is good but one thing that is very important for me especially in coffee shop & they don't have is WIFI other than that everything in good

Great little coffee shop. Love the espressos, macchiatos, lattes, & the stock beans too.
I brought a KeepCup today for my order. The barista made sure to train the other person on staff the importance of filling the KeepCup with hot water. Kudos to the training of the staff, if this "minor" task is being trained, all the important won't be missed. That's why I keep coming back to Melk.
I got to know this cafe thanks to my girlfriend & now I am a regular customer. I'm not a coffee person but the iced latte with dulce de leche is really good for people like me who like their coffee not so strong & more sugary.
I used to order the cold brews from Lufa but this 2023 aren't available anymore so I decided to cancel my Lufa subscription.
I would be great for MELK to implement a loyalty card, most of us are loyal to this good coffee & support local shops. I would feel appreciated if there was these kind of promotions & programs.
