We opened our first cafe in 2013 with the mission of offering specialty coffee in a warm and inclusive environment.
During our expansion, we quickly understood that as a company, our central commitment was to our employees. It is with them and thanks to them that everything else is possible.
Overall, MELK Café is described as a cozy, small spot with excellent coffee, standout matcha and scones, and friendly, fast service that makes it a good place to work or study, though seating is limited and the space can feel crowded during peak times. The menu and drinks get high marks, pastries are often praised, and prices are generally considered reasonable, with some notes about the occasional pastry being a bit sweet or the espresso not having depth. A few reviews mention moments of inconsistent service or a busy, noisy atmosphere, and one highlights a tip prompt at payment, but the overall vibe is warm and the quality of drinks and snacks keeps people returning.
Their matcha latte & scones are simply the best. They bake several batches of fresh scones throughout the day. The cheddar, everything bagel with cream cheese, & chocolate blueberry scones are just so good. You do need to go in early though as after 2pm they are usually all sold out. Worth the trip!
Come for the scones. There's coffee too, but the espresso falls flat. There's no depth to the roast. It's easy drinking you could say. Coffee for the non-coffee drinker. The everything scone tho… it's a thing of beauty. Wasn't expecting the cream cheese baked into it. Wonderful touch. The dough was a bit overworked & tough but that's a small nitpick on a great offering. Will come back for another.
Good coffee, we always buy their beans for coffee at home. I like their scones & muffins. However, it's an in & out coffeeshop, the place is too small.

I ordered a flat white. The coffee art was excellent, the service was excellent, but the coffee tasted like nothing, mostly milk. I also thought it was expensive for what it was. I've had cheaper flat whites in other places & they tasted much better. I know it's my personal taste but well... I wouldn't come back. Plus the coffee shop is tiny & not very comfortable to stay in.
Staff were friendly & attentive they have the best scones in Montreal I highly recommend all bagels scones for savory & the dark chocolate for sweet but all scones I've tried are pretty delicious unfortunately their white chocolate & cherry scones are no longer available which was my favorite.
This is a real hidden gem. It's a small premise on an unassuming street, but the interior, the food & most importantly the coffee is outstanding. It's definitely worth a visit.
I love their lavender & dulce de leche lattes, & their coffees overall. What I did find somewhat off putting is the fact that you are immediately presented with a tip prompt when you go to pay.
Such a cool little cafe. It has a nice amount of seating, including benches with a table, seats with a table, & bar type seats.
The pomme scone was delicious, & the brownie was perfection.
The latte was really nice, but the maple latte was the perfect amount of sweet & not overwhelming. I will go back for that latte alone!
They have a good variety of drinks at a reasonable price. The people working there were super kind. They speak English & French perfectly. We were able to switch between the two languages flawlessly.
They will be seeing my partner & I again!
Awesome roaster. I've been buying their beans for months & would recommend them for those that make their own espresso at home. The coffee served in-store is certainly great as well, but the limited space makes the place feel crammed.
