I recently dined at MechantBoeuf, & it was an exceptional experience. The food was simply outstanding, each dish crafted to perfection & bursting with flavor. The wine selection was superb, offering a variety that complemented the meal beautifully. The staff at MechantBoeuf were amazing, providing top service with a friendly & professional demeanor. They were attentive & knowledgeable, enhancing the overall dining experience. The atmosphere at MechantBoeuf was vibrant & welcoming. The ambiance was beautiful, creating a perfect setting for an enjoyable meal. Overall, MechantBoeuf offers a fantastic dining experience that I highly recommend.
This is one of the best restaurants in Old Montreal. The atmosphere was great, the service was great, & the steaks were incredibly good . However, the waitress tried to charge us an extra bottle of wine. We wanted to try white wine from Sicily, but they didn't have it in stock, so we have opted for French wine instead. When she put the bill on a table , it was two bottles - the one we drank & the other, that was not available. When I asked why she had charged us for two instead of one, she replied that THEY ( who "they" she didn't specify ) put it on the bill, even though she was the only one serving us. Is it an "honest" mistake ? Could be.... Only because food was super good, she still got 20% tips. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat, but it is worth to double check your bills at the end....
So much potential & yet such a disappointment. I rarely write negative reviews but this experience was unfortunately quite deserving of one. The establishment & atmosphere are lovely, so we were expecting a great food experience to go with it. As you can see from the pictures, the presentation was gorgeous. But I was thoroughly shocked at how tough my steak was when cutting into it. To top it off, although it looked perfectly cooked at medium rare, it ended up tasting & feeling like it was well done. The potato puree was like a heavy glue & for some reason, was served on top of most of the vegetables. It's only after taking a few bites that I noticed I had more vegetables on my plate. My partner's steak was a little more tender but thoroughly flavorless. The best part of the meal was the oysters. They were perfect. But really, what topped it all off was the disappointingly bad service provided by Emilie. It started off well enough, but when I politely asked for an extra minute to decide what to pick, this seemed to have made her mad. She threw up her hands & walked away. My partner & I looked at each other, quite confused as to why that didn't go over well. The rest of the "service" was a combination of almost non existent & cold. Considering we were about to pay over $200 for a bad food experience, this really made me angry. Sadly, I definitely can't recommend Le Méchant Boeuf.
All our orders were cooked to perfection, & every bite was so savory. The sauce that our waitress recommended for our steak was amazingly delicious. Me & my husband we're there celebrating our anniversary, They offered us two glasses of prosecco, but we had to say no because we didn't want to mix our alcohol so they offered us our dessert instead, that was nice of them to do that. Definitely recommend the place & would go back for many more.
Un endroit pour bien manger de la bonne viande. Nous y avons très bien manger. La personne qui nous a accueilli est incroyablement sympathique & gentille. Elle c'est battu jusqu'au bout pour nous permettre d'avoir le wifi 😉 Je recommande cette endroit.
Le service était exceptionnel , mon ami & moi étions constamment au petit soins grâce au personnel & que dire du repas, c'était exquis. J'ai tout adoré du début jusqu'à la fin entre entrée, plat de résistance, dessert & boissons 🥰 Je recommande vivement le méchant boeuf 🤌🏾

En vacances à Montréal, Nous nous sommes arrêtés manger au méchant boeuf avec mon mari. Notre expérience s'est avérée parfaite de l'accueil jusqu'à notre départ. Équipe souriante aux petits soins & surtout professionnel avec le sens du détail. Carte des vins mêlant classique & nature pour tous les goûts & tous les prix. Cuisine qualitative avec la cuisson des viandes maîtrisée. Merci à toute l'équipe de nous avoir fais passer un moment comme celui là ! Je recommande.
We wanted to have dinner as part of Happening Gourmand - 3 courses for $49. The appetizers & the main were very delicious. As appetizers we had spinach soup & heart of palm tartare. Both were tasty but spinach soup was on the spicier side if you are sensitive. We both got steak & fries as main. Steak was cooked to perfection. It was tender & easy to eat. I am not big on sauces so I preferred having the meat only with butter. For desserts we had one of each. I would say desserts are not on the same level as appetizers & main. The brownie was dry & not warm. Profiteroles felt like they waited in the fridge before served. I would probably order an extra appetizer & skip the dessert next time. We also had the Feeling Fresh cocktail without syrup & it was so refreshing! I highly recommend. The ambiance was very nice. We loved the lights & table lamps on each table. The staff was friendly & service was very fast. We didn't have long pauses in between the courses which I appreciate. Overall, I will definitely go back to try other things on the menu. Thank you!!
Visited Merchant Boeuf recently & had an exceptional dining experience! We indulged in two poutines with succulent beef brisket, which were absolutely delicious - the perfect blend of crispy fries, savory gravy, & tender brisket. The Méchant burgers we ordered were also a hit, juicy & flavorful, easily some of the best we've had. The spicy chicken sandwiches were another highlight, packing just the right amount of heat & taste to leave us thoroughly impressed. Beyond the food, the cocktails were a standout. Each one we tried was fantastic, showcasing a creative mix of flavors that were both refreshing & delightfully balanced. The atmosphere of the place added to the enjoyment, making our meal there not just a dinner, but a truly enjoyable experience. Highly recommend Merchant Boeuf for anyone looking for top-notch food & drinks in a welcoming setting. It's a place we'll definitely return to!
Méchant Boeuf provided the perfect atmosphere for a romantic date night with my wife. The ambiance was cozy, the service impeccable, & the food absolutely delicious. We shared the steak frites, cooked to perfection, & indulged in their rich desserts. Highly recommend for a special occasion!

I have been at Mechant Boeuf multiple times, & each time, the service & food are great. Today, I tried their "Happy Gourmand" Brunch menu & loved if. Pictured here is the Benny with spinach & mushrooms. Their cocktails are also very nice. Highly recommend for brunch or dinner.
Wonderful dining experience. Restaurant was clean the atmosphere was great. The staff was attentive & helpful. Food was absolutely to die for. Everything came hot & tasty. A new favourite in montreal for sure! Highly recommend, will be back!
J'ai récemment eu le plaisir de dîner au restaurant Le Méchant Boeuf à Montréal & ce fut une expérience exceptionnelle du début à la fin. L'ambiance était chic & accueillante, avec une énergie vibrante qui complétait parfaitement l'atmosphère animée du Vieux-Montréal. Le service était impeccable, avec un personnel attentif & compétent qui offrait d'excellentes recommandations. Quant à la cuisine, chaque plat était un chef-d'oeuvre de saveurs & de présentation, mettant en valeur la créativité & le talent des chefs. Le steak que j'ai commandé était cuit à la perfection, tendre & juteux, accompagné d'accompagnements délicieux qui ont élevé le repas à un autre niveau. En résumé, Le Méchant Boeuf a dépassé mes attentes à tous les niveaux & j'ai hâte d'y retourner pour une autre expérience gastronomique inoubliable.
Super restaurant ! Nous avons pris la formule table hôte pour le lunch. Les dumplings étaient supers ! Nous avons beaucoup apprécié l'assiette de côtes levées. Portion très généreuse, le tout accompagné d'un bon vin. Restaurant parfait pour les groupes comme les couples. Je recommande fortement.
