Started our friday night here for my Bachelor party weekend, We order a few appetizers the calamari was perfect as we're the dumpling, the cocktails we had were perfectly made my whiskey sour was made to perfection, for our main we opted for a 47oz porterhouse & a 36oz Kansas for everyone to share, the steak was absolutely amazing cooked to perfection. When it came to the sides & im not one to really comment on sides because most places are good, but when it came to there potato puree it was amazing the flavours the creaminess when mixing in the egg yolk absolutely delicious. As for the staff from the moment we walked in & were seated 5star all the way very knowledgeable about there for menu & drinks wine selection was very good, the attention to detail was spot on, all the staff made sure everyone was enjoying themselves the manager was very hands on walking around & speaking to the customers making sure every customer was happy & that everything was to there liking. Not sure what else I can say from the front of the house to the back it was perfect compliments to the chef aswell as all the staff everyone plays a crucial role to make every customers experience just perfect & you hit it spot on, My wedding is June 15th 2024, & next year on June 15th 2025 we will be definitely traveling from ottawa to enjoy a dinner & drinks for our first anniversary. & with how perfect everything is I hope to continue that tradition for years to come on our anniversary.
This is one of the best restaurants in Old Montreal. The atmosphere was great, the service was great, & the steaks were incredibly good . However, the waitress tried to charge us an extra bottle of wine. We wanted to try white wine from Sicily, but they didn't have it in stock, so we have opted for French wine instead. When she put the bill on a table , it was two bottles - the one we drank & the other, that was not available. When I asked why she had charged us for two instead of one, she replied that THEY ( who "they" she didn't specify ) put it on the bill, even though she was the only one serving us. Is it an "honest" mistake ? Could be.... Only because food was super good, she still got 20% tips. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat, but it is worth to double check your bills at the end....

So much potential & yet such a disappointment. I rarely write negative reviews but this experience was unfortunately quite deserving of one. The establishment & atmosphere are lovely, so we were expecting a great food experience to go with it. As you can see from the pictures, the presentation was gorgeous. But I was thoroughly shocked at how tough my steak was when cutting into it. To top it off, although it looked perfectly cooked at medium rare, it ended up tasting & feeling like it was well done. The potato puree was like a heavy glue & for some reason, was served on top of most of the vegetables. It's only after taking a few bites that I noticed I had more vegetables on my plate. My partner's steak was a little more tender but thoroughly flavorless. The best part of the meal was the oysters. They were perfect. But really, what topped it all off was the disappointingly bad service provided by Emilie. It started off well enough, but when I politely asked for an extra minute to decide what to pick, this seemed to have made her mad. She threw up her hands & walked away. My partner & I looked at each other, quite confused as to why that didn't go over well. The rest of the "service" was a combination of almost non existent & cold. Considering we were about to pay over $200 for a bad food experience, this really made me angry. Sadly, I definitely can't recommend Le Méchant Boeuf.
I ordered the fried calamari for entry...should've ordered twice. I had the salmon tartare big size I felt like a fisherman with a full belly amazing not over seasoned just fresh salmon. Drank two pint of IPA I was happy. Belgium waitress served us amazing. Thank you
We ordered a toma hawk steak & it was fantastic! A big thank you to Marie Joelle for the amazing service. Will definitely be back, for the toma hawk steak of course lol.
La serveuse qui c'est occupé de nous à vraiment été adorable j'ai vraiment apprécié la soirée la nourriture etait excellent la cuisson de la viande & la saveur magnifique. Seul point négatif qu'il n'y en est pas plus

Amazing experience! The place is kind of hidden. You don't really pay attention to it, but once you are inside, you are amazed by the atmosphere. It's really cozy, & the service is amazing. The waiters are patient & really attentive to your needs. Everything I tasted there was amazing.
All our orders were cooked to perfection, & every bite was so savory. The sauce that our waitress recommended for our steak was amazingly delicious. Me & my husband we're there celebrating our anniversary, They offered us two glasses of prosecco, but we had to say no because we didn't want to mix our alcohol so they offered us our dessert instead, that was nice of them to do that. Definitely recommend the place & would go back for many more.
waited just shy of 2 hrs for steaks 3 out 6 got the wrong cuts of steak the manager did make it up to us for the inconvenience hence the 5 stars for service.i understand things can wrong in the kitchen. however instead of enjoying our evening as group we were left frustrated, we cant take this time back.
Bonne vibe & bonne bouffe. L'attente était longue pour recevoir nos plats (entre 1h30 - 2h depuis l'arrivée à notre table), mais le serveur nous a expliqué que c'était à cause du fait qu'ils ont perdu leur chef & le nouveau chef venait juste de commencer. Au final, nous avons passé du bon temps malgré l'attente. J'estime que ce n'est pas si long normalement.
I brought my wife here for our 5th anniversary, I made a reservation online & mentioned it was to celebrate our anniversary. The shift supervisor greeted us with complimentary champagne & thanked us for choosing Mechant Boeuf for our celebration. The service was fantastic! The atmosphere - we went on a Sunday at 4pm (playoff game to watch at 6pm otherwise we would have went later) & it was practically empty, which was great for us. Can't stand loud places, but I did notice it filling up a bit when we were leaving. The food I'd honestly have to say was good, but nothing over the top...mind you the filet mignon was AMAZING! It did take quite some time for them to serve the course, which I did inquire about after some time, & the waitress told me she had been putting pressure on the cooks....I would have liked for her to notify us that she was doing this because I felt bad for asking. I asked for an all dressed baked potato which they didn't have in stock but then they managed to put ingredients together to make one. This impressed me for their service, but it did taste like it was whipped up at the last minute. So thanks for amazing service

Ambiance chic & décontractée ,le saumon est cuit à la perfection & très goûteux, quand au dit méchant burger c'est un des meilleurs qu'il m'est été donné de goûter . Mention spéciale pour l'accueil ainsi que pour le professionnalisme du gérant de l'établissement .
As always, a total 5 star experience. Filet Mignon paired with the Chianti Classico Gran Reserva will sort you out right. Very personable waiter today to add to the experience.
Un endroit pour bien manger de la bonne viande. Nous y avons très bien manger. La personne qui nous a accueilli est incroyablement sympathique & gentille. Elle c'est battu jusqu'au bout pour nous permettre d'avoir le wifi 😉 Je recommande cette endroit.
