Came here with a friend & ended up leaving early because of one of the staff members behavior. She was rude & clearly not sober - really ruined the vibe.

A beautiful historic pub with a fantastic vibe & a delicious bison burger (just like I remember it from 20 years earlier!)
We came here for comedy on the second floor - that was so much fun! Be sure to come early to get good seats & be aware because of the age of the building to arrive early
The staff were so fantastic & helpful for those in our group with reduced mobility - thank you!
I know I am a bit biased, but as the pubs go, this is probably the best one out there. Food is always top notch. Exceptional ambiance, & always great service.
So I have come to Mckibbins twice this trip. Once to support Bar Star & then tonight.
Saturday night was amazing & the service was top notch.
I went in tonight to grab a bite to eat, & when I got the late night menu it said that 6 wings were 12 dollars according to the menu & inlcuded fries from what i read at no extra. I was charged 16 dollars for the wings that come with fries, a carrot & two small celery sticks & just over 10 for 2 pops.
Getting charged a different price than menu price is extremely annoying. I tipped because 1. It's what you do for the servers & cook, & 2 because of the service on Saturday. But please correct your prices rather than surprising customers were a 4 dollar extra charge which came as a surprise since I thought I was gonna spend 20 instead of 30.
Edit: Additionally the late night wings are small, while for their size they have a decent amount of meat, for how much I paid that wasn't worth the price.
I went to Montreal on a business trip last week. Whenever I go to a new city I look up what the spiciest food available is & get it. In this case, I kept seeing the rim reaper wings at McKibbin's come up.
There were two sizes, 6 wings for'the curious' & 12 for the challenge.
I usually end up underwhelmed but not this time. When I got the wings, honestly they didn't look that impressive, looked just like regular buffalo wing sauce. Ate one wing. It was pretty spicy, & actually it had a really good flavor.
If I hadn't gotten the 12 wings, I would have been satisfied with six. After 8, I felt a gut punch. This is actually one of the best parts of it. When I've gotten it before, it usually happens a few hours after a challenge. So the wings & my body were letting me know before it's too late that I'm going to be having a bad time later if I continue. Knowing you're going to feel bad later is sort of an abstract concept, but that gut punch brought back some vivid memories.
I sat there for a bit, deciding whether I wanted to try to power through the last four, or give up. I have a plane to catch in the morning, I don't want to be sick while I'm dealing with that.
The pub was not too far from my hotel. I came on foot which wasn't bad, & I left on foot, which was. Every step was just making everything in there slosh around. It got to where I couldn't walk, I had to go into an alleyway & just sat on the ground breathing for a bit, unable to move. I didn't know how I was going to make it back. But after sitting still for a bit I managed to recover enough to make it the rest of the way. Once I got into my room I just laid on the bed sweating. I was thirsty, but the only thing to drink was water out of the bathroom faucet, & I couldn't justify moving just for that. Eventually I fell asleep.
I woke up some time later in the early morning, &... it was like nothing happened. I was really glad about that. I've never had the capsaicin fever in an airplane toilet & I don't ever want to.
So all in all, a worthwhile challenge that actually tastes good too. If I find myself back in Montreal I will have to make arrangements & try again... or maybe just get six.
Warto wpa?? na piwko ze wzgl?du na klimat miejsca. Dodatkowo du?y wybór alkoholu, w tym w?a?nie piwa. Niestety z kuchni nie skorzystali?my bo by?a awaria.
The service was satisfactory, but the food was excessively expensive. A cocktail & a burger cost $50. Additionally, the back open area had two large rats running underneath the chairs.
