Overall, it presents as a dependable, bustling institution with great drinks, good food, and strong entertainment options that suit a variety of tastes and occasions.
Good aesthetic & service. Shame the food & drink were underwhelming. The Guinness was badly poured & so was bitter & thin, & the poutine was smaller than explained by the waitress & swimming in a gravy soup.
(Note: many of the whiskies & scotch on the menu were unavailable. :/ why not remove them then?)
Great atmosphere! I enjoyed my visit to this place. I had nachos & & a berry drink both were good.
The live music was amazing, made my experience even better.
Great place for a Friday night.
The waitress Bert nice.
I went to Montreal on a business trip last week. Whenever I go to a new city I look up what the spiciest food available is & get it. In this case, I kept seeing the rim reaper wings at McKibbin's come up.
There were two sizes, 6 wings for'the curious' & 12 for the challenge.
I usually end up underwhelmed but not this time. When I got the wings, honestly they didn't look that impressive, looked just like regular buffalo wing sauce. Ate one wing. It was pretty spicy, & actually it had a really good flavor.
If I hadn't gotten the 12 wings, I would have been satisfied with six. After 8, I felt a gut punch. This is actually one of the best parts of it. When I've gotten it before, it usually happens a few hours after a challenge. So the wings & my body were letting me know before it's too late that I'm going to be having a bad time later if I continue. Knowing you're going to feel bad later is sort of an abstract concept, but that gut punch brought back some vivid memories.
I sat there for a bit, deciding whether I wanted to try to power through the last four, or give up. I have a plane to catch in the morning, I don't want to be sick while I'm dealing with that.
The pub was not too far from my hotel. I came on foot which wasn't bad, & I left on foot, which was. Every step was just making everything in there slosh around. It got to where I couldn't walk, I had to go into an alleyway & just sat on the ground breathing for a bit, unable to move. I didn't know how I was going to make it back. But after sitting still for a bit I managed to recover enough to make it the rest of the way. Once I got into my room I just laid on the bed sweating. I was thirsty, but the only thing to drink was water out of the bathroom faucet, & I couldn't justify moving just for that. Eventually I fell asleep.
I woke up some time later in the early morning, &... it was like nothing happened. I was really glad about that. I've never had the capsaicin fever in an airplane toilet & I don't ever want to.
So all in all, a worthwhile challenge that actually tastes good too. If I find myself back in Montreal I will have to make arrangements & try again... or maybe just get six.
Hands down the best pun in town. A great selection of drinks, amazing service & staff, the food is top notch & beats out most restaurants, & definitely beats the fast food joints. They have live music on certain days, a club with a DJ on the top floor, a backyard & frontyard terrace, a television for sporting events, & a basement for a quieter atmosphere. Honestly, it's got it all.

Terrible. We went into an Irish Bar & had to ask for a drink. Table service was extremely slow with ample staff so we went to the bar to ask for a drink which we were denied & told to ask our server. Lol what a joke. Got a shotty poured Guinness & decided it leave. Considering how well w e have been treated on our trip to Montreal I was extremely disappointed for a highly rated Irish pub . Nice terrace on the back side & the doorman was very friendly Guess they don't need our business. Sad. ☘?
Drinks are good & so is the food. The only reason why this rating is low is because my friends & I went to the downstairs area, after being upstairs for about an hour. While my friends & I were waiting for our ride, my friends took my phone to look at something. So while they had my phone, I put my head in my hands & was close to the table because I was admiring the art on the wall, because honestly the pictures & signs are pretty cool. HOWEVER, a security guard came up to me & aggressively tapped me on the arm & yelled'You can't sleep here!!!' & when I tried to explain that I wasn't sleeping, he walked away mid-sentence. Then, a few minutes later, after being embarrassed, a waiter comes up, annoyed & says we have to order something & we say water please, & they walked away still annoyed. We can tell we didn't feel welcomed there. (The only reason why there is two stars, & not one, is because the people in the upstairs area were really friendly & nice).
I have been eating bison burgers & drinking Guinness at this bar for over 10 years. They have a great selection of both Irish beer & food. The live music & comedy shows are always a great experience. The only thing I recommend customers avoid are the chicken wings, it's not worth the free T-shirt.
I've had a great experience in that Pub, it was genuinely nice to get drinks in there, they have a variety of beers & the food menu has some cool options. Staff are friendly !
The most authentic Irish pub I've ever visited in North America! I sat at the bar & the service was great. It was super quiet when I visited on a Sunday afternoon but quickly picked up the later it got, with a big ghost tour group coming in around 4:30 pm. I stayed for two drinks & wanted to stay for more. Would 100% visit again. OVERVIEW When: Sunday Afternoon, December 2024 Ate: Nothing Drank: x 1 Guinness & x 1 Guinness & cider $$$: $25 with tip Pros: Atmosphere, service, decor Cons: None
Not very good experience. Irish stew was about as good as canned Puritan Irish Stew except with flour. Ordered soup which never arrived. Bread was stale & crusty. Overall the food was pretty bad. It took forever to get drinks, I sat with an empty beer for over 30 mins waiting for another & signaled a few times I was waiting for my next beer. They were moderately busy, but honestly how long does it take to pour a beer?
